Review: I didnโt realize I knew so little about eggs - I guess most Americans eat thousands of eggs in a lifetime. Youโd think we would want to know more about them. The introductory overview of eggs, and how to select them, is worth the price of admission by itself. Thereโs also a recipe (I have yet to try) that seems like a foolproof method to make hollandaise sauce (notoriously finicky). I bought the book primarily to get a recipe to make Scotch eggs. The recipe is not in the index under โScotchโ, but rather โmaple โฆ Scotch eggsโ. Iโm looking forward to trying it. The book is handsomely designed and laid out. It has a sturdy cover and is well bound (Smyth sewn). I will probably buy more copies as Christmas gifts. Review: Great cookbook! - I had high hopes and high standards for Lisa's cookbook as I had purchased 2 of her chicken keeping books and was loving them. I am thoroughly impressed with this cookbook! The recipes and methods are very creative and very thorough, there are some I never would have imagined. Her methods of cooking with eggs is amazing. As to be expected, there are egg standards like hollandaise sauce, mayonnaise, omelets, etc, however, they are thorough and she even includes new ways to prepare them in some cases and sometimes even multiple ways. Even the simple fried egg is made glorious with multiple ways (not just sunny side up or a change in seasoning!) and how to achieve multiple levels of doneness. In all her recipes, she is through and describes each in a wonderful way. Some include a bit of a back story or cultural information but all of them tell you about the dish itself so that you know what you are making and how to approach it. I feel at ease just reading her description and the instructions on things I never would have approached in the past due to complexity, but she makes them simple somehow. The photos are gorgeous, the layout is well thought through and the hardcover is thick and sturdy. It makes an excellent addition to my small stash of treasured cookbooks. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves eggs but am tired of the usual fried egg or scrambled. Now, I'm hungry!

Makes you feel like you can be a real chef!
I'm a new chicken farmer and have had my 3-4 girls for only about two years. Once I realized we were going to be getting SO many eggs I was wondering what on Earth I was going to do with them all. Enter The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook - my savior from drowning in eggs. Lo and behold, there are some really cool recipes in there! I really enjoyed reading the Introduction and have learned so much from the beginning of the cookbook about how to cook eggs in so many different ways, like poached, steamed, fried, and oven-cooked. I also love the comments about each recipe that gives some insight of that particular recipe's origin and/or another tidbit as to why Lisa enjoys that recipe. I'm slowly making my way through these yummy recipes and look forward to trying even more new things. Swedish Egg Coffee, for example; I've never heard of such a thing but look forward to trying it out! I've included a couple pictures of my adventure of cooking new ways with eggs so far. The first: Creamy Spiced Rice Pudding (found on page 228) turned out so yummy! This was the very first recipe I tried. I did not have any regular oranges so I substituted them with kumquats and it was one of the best things ever. And look how pretty! The second picture: Homemade Marshmallows (found on page 271). I never in my wildest dreams thought that I, of all people, could make marshmallows from scratch. It took me a few days to actually try it as I was a little intimidated by the recipe. Making marshmallows is a process; with needing a thermometer for the syrup and whipping egg whites to soft peaks. But I love marshmallows so much, that I had to give it a try. So, I gathered up everything I would need and read the recipe over and over till I gathered up my nerve to really jump in. Boy, am I glad I did! This picture is of my first attempt at making marshmallows. Store-bought marshmallows are now just so disappointing! These are DELICIOUS. So much so that they were gone in a matter of a couple of days. I've made them 3 times now...and it's only been a month! Let the adventure continue!

Nice cookbook, especially for someone with little cooking experience.
Currently, my new hens are outdoing themselves. I heard a review of the book on the radio & I thought that this would be what I needed to give me some new ideas/new egg dishes to try, especially recipes using a lot of eggs. This is a good cookbook. For me, a lot I already knew but that is not a criticism really. I am in my 70s & have been cooking a long time. I learned some new recipes & I would expect that younger cooks would learn even more.

You Will Get Hungry
One of the best books I've read on eggs. The author explains quite a bit about eggs, (and those hens laying the eggs), and knowledge is power. I learned some new things and now want to have chickens. The recipes take a variety of skill levels. Don't be intimidated though as the only way to get to the highest skill level is with practice. There are photos that will have you drooling. One thing I found super helpful is the index at the back is broken up by how many eggs you need to make the recipe. I found it the book perfect for me.

Absolutely Eggcelent.
Very well-written, beautiful pictures, TONS of recipes... I bought this book to give to my father-in-law, who raises chickens. Immediately after thumbing through it, I realized if I'm gonna do that, I'll need to snag another copy. The early sections of this book are fantastic for someone who doesn't know how to cook/doesn't know how to cook eggs (I remember that point in my life.. Eggs were scary and would make me SICK?! nahhhh). Some of these recipes are beyond my skill level, but heck, I should branch out. Easy to follow, beautiful pics, and a fantastic use for the deluge of eggs that come with raising chickens (or knowing folks who do.) Love it.

outstanding!!
I got this for 52% off the retail price. I am absolutely thrilled with what the book has to offer. There is something for everyone and then some extra great information aside from the recipes. Also the recipes are easy to follow and she gives you tips or options for what you're making. I thought about giving it four stars, but it's that valuable to me that I had to give 5! The first copy I received was damaged due to poor packing and the replacement was form fitting packed and arrived like brand new. thanks amazon!

Excellent. Practical. Superb Recipes
I love eggs, so I bought this book from Lisa Steele. The book is a delight. Lisa started with a primer on eggs: types, health benefits, how to store and freeze them, and many more. Then, she went on to the recipes. Lisa divided the recipes into egg or egg-based recipes for different meals. I like her emphasis on simple, practical recipes you can modify or use immediately. She ends with a section on sauces, and this section is invaluable. The writing is simple: nothing complicated. The photography is marvelous. If you love eggs, buy this book.
