Will these keep out the sand?

Not 100% but they kept out painful gravel and pebbles

Can sand get into these shoes?

Yes, but it’s very minimal. I originally purchased mine to walk in the sand in the Florida keys. Now I wear them for sand or swim. Your feet won’t be hot in the sand either. Get them!!

Will they get stinky when wet?

Not in my experience, I've worn mine in the ocean and they didn't start to smell funky.
