Is this something that you could possibly mount on a wall?

I have the NYC one which is much more intricate. I have mounted it on a wall. Removed it when we moved and recounted. It is doable

Are there two versions of this puzzle? I'm seeing two different box designs...Also how "up to date" is it...does it show the London eye for example?

Yes, the London Eye is in it. The Gherkin is as well. It is very up-to-date. I don't know about the differing boxes. When I purchased, there was only one choice. We were just in London in October 2013, there was one new skyscraper built and another one being built. The puzzle is supposed to include buildings being completed up to 2015 and those were included. We have really, really enjoyed this puzzle. It is really well done historically and even depicts the changes in the Thames flow over the years. Hope that helps!!

Will the double-sided tape ruin the bottom layer? I plan on taking it apart after finished but am worried about the tape damage to the bottom layer.

I would definitely say it could ruin the bottom layer since you plan on removing it afterward. The bottom layer does have detail too.

Approximately how long does one of these take to put together?

It takes a while. I set it up in my rec room and worked on it on and off for at least a month. About 1 to 2 hours a day. Very hard, worthwhile when you get done.

Great toy for children

These puzzles are quite good and with the 3 aspects (historic, current & major buildings) create different challenges for children, and get them interested in the city and perspective and look quite good when complete. Just the right level of challenge for a child in the 8 - 12 year old range. It good watching the city 'being built' and where clusters of developments occur at different times.
