Excellent. Ridiculously light, strong if you use it as recommended (pry backwards only, and don’t let your kid use it to open the bear can). I’ve taken it on 2 trips now and it digs and saws through roots like a champ.

The ultralight backpacking trowel is a perfect blend of durability and minimal weight. It easily cuts through tough soil while barely adding any grams to my pack. Compact, reliable, and eco-friendly—an essential piece of gear I now won’t hit the trail without.

This Trowel is great! Way more lightweight than expected, yet it feels sturdy enough to dig easily through most soils. I have only used it a handful of times (thankfully) but I know that I can always count on it. Comes in a handy plastic bag that I repurpose to store the trowel and some TP in. I also love the plastic stopper at the top for easily pressing into the ground, which a lot of other trowels lack. Great value for the money!

This trowel was well reviewed by Dan Becker and I thought it would be a nice, light replacement for my homemade aluminum angle iron trowel. This trowel by Bogler is well made and will be easier on my hands with its plastic handle tip.Post 1st use Edit: This trowel works fine in somewhat loose soil with small roots. I haven't tried it in rocky soil but it might struggle there. I think with careful use this trowel will do the job in most conditions I will run into in the Rocky Mountains.First use impressions after 8 day backpack trip: This tool really works well as long as some care is taken. In 8 days of use it shows no wear and is ready for more trips.

This thing is ridiculously light, it is EXACTLY the weight of an empty can of soft drink 0.05g - NOTHING; you could pack 10 of these and still not feel it. It is thinner than a penny coin, yet because of its design (bends) it is super sturdy, the plastic but helps pushing it in.Cuts well thru mud, grassy soil and dirt, haven't tried it in rooty soil such as pine forests. The one recommendation is don't hammer it in, push and press, if you bend it the wrong way it fails permanently.

This is a fine product and I think it may have extensive utility in field hiking and camping. Although intended for creating cat-holes, it's a strong little digging tool which I believe will serve well on other trail duties. I've just received a pair of these trowels and took them out for a test dig. Used according to instructions they performed well and did not deform. I was looking for a small, light weight tool to include in my basic survival packs which I keep in the truck and always carry in the outdoors. These will serve admirably. I would certainly recommend and buy again.

As Someone who has been backpacking and climbing mountains for almost 40 years, This is the best trowel I have ever used. I was so frustrated with other trials that I started carrying my ice even once I wasn’t going to Mount mirroring. This product is incredibly lightweight and effective.The serrated edges are perfect and make it very easy to quickly dig a 6 to 8 inch hole and properly dispose of your poop and biodegradable toilet paper. The difference between carrying my ice axe simply to dig a hole, and this trowel was immmeasurable. Buy it it’s awesome.
