bad tasting stuff
BUY IT! Don't hesitate! I am NOT being paid for this review and I did not get the product for free. My ten (yes, 10!) year old daughter could not stop sucking herthumb. We tried EVERYTHING over the years. Bandaids, tape, bad tasting stuff, an orthodontic appliance (she even stopped for 6 months and re-started). This is the only thing that has ever worked. The first few nights were hard, I'm not going to lie. We stuck it out and it has been amazing. She puts it on herself every night without me having to ask. (She wore it around the clock for the first two or three days, told kids at school that she hurt her thumb playing soccer. After that she only needed it at night.) At first, I had to put it on tight enough that she couldn't pry it off so we went through a new band every night. Now, we tighten the bracelet just enough so she can't easily get out of it in her sleep, but loose enough that she can still wiggle it on and off. We change the band once a week or so and she puts it on every night without me needing to remind her. Mentally, she was ready to stop but didn't think she would ever be able to. Even though she hasn't sucked in weeks/months, I think she will continue to wear this at night for the forseeable future. I couldn't be more grateful to the inventors of the T-guard!!

Works better than an ortho habit appliance
This works better than an ortho habit appliance! My 9 yr old started a habit appliance along with a palate expander ( Orthodontic treatment) and she continued to use suck her thumb through all of this treatment (setting back tx) Thumbs would be swollen, and mouth hurting... this did not stop her, so I took an extra step and invested in the TGuard for both hands. It stayed on 247, only removed to shower, for 6 weeks and broke her habit! She's happier, handles her emotions better, not sick all the time, and her Orthodontic treatment is now working- smile/bite is coming along beautifully. First 2 weeks were tough but it did get easier over time using the sticker chart... trust the process.

works for 4 hours
this is a great idea, but the design is flawed! my 5 years old was able to remove it and kept sucking his thumb! It took him only 4 hours to figure it out. I am happy and disappointed at the same time! I was hoping this would help him stop sucking his thump. the seller charges $10 restocking fees, what a shame Updates: The seller contacted me and issued the restocking fees back to my account, and he explained the reason why my 5 years old was able to remove it, is because I ordered the wrong size. He provided me a new package at no charge which is very courteous from him. The good news is my kid stopped sucking his thumb on his own. I think God responded my prayers.

and our son is happily NOT sucking his thumb anymore
This is MORE than just a device—it's an entire program. We had struggled for a few years to help my oldest son stop thumb-sucking. The trick, as TGuard advises, is that the child has to WANT to quit. Parents who purchase this should NOT expect that it is a miracle device. It is a whole process the requires parents and children to work together on the issue. Read the entire instructions and follow them, understanding that the TGuard is only there to remind the child about their behavior, not prevent it outright. This worked for us within six weeks, and our son is happily NOT sucking his thumb anymore.

Works. Like. A. Charm! YES! Use it - Now!
My daughter had been sucking her thumb since about 3mo and she’s now 7. So, I was pretty skeptical about the efficacy of this product because we have extinguished, what feels like, every other option available. This product worked, and my daughter has been thumb sucking free for over a week now! We followed the instructions to the letter - and we ended up buying another thumb guard because the first one she just tore to shreds with her teeth within the first 3-5 days of wearing it 24/7. After the first week, I noticed a considerable difference in how much less she was driven by habit to suck her thumb. The device cleans easy and is still flexible enough to allow her to draw (with extra effort), ride her bike and brush her teeth. We did however have to pause her gymnastics during treatment. Downtime at gym she’d find her thumb again.. well not anymore! If you’re thinking about using this, don’t think - buy now! This was one of the best investments we’ve made lol Down with thumb sucking ! Hooray for healthier habits during a pandemic!

CHILD CAN REMOVE THUMB
We purchased the correct size and put the product on our son's hand as shown in the instructions but he was able to remove his thumb. He was not able to remove the device from his hand but he was able to get his thumb out of it so that he could suck on it. We also tried putting the band on in different ways to prevent him from being able to remove this thumb but he was STILL able to get his thumb out. This was a complete waste of money and not only did I purchase this, but I also purchased the additional bands which were about $20. We had purchased this as a last ditch effort but since it does not work, our son will now need to have a device placed in his mouth by the orthodontist to prevent his thumb sucking. If you have a determined child, I highly advise AGAINST purchasing this product.

Kinda bulky
I tried it on my daughter's thumb, but I found it to be quite bulky and uncomfortable for her during the night. She sucks at night and it was very uncomfortable for her. Kept waking her up. So I returned it. I'm sure it would've been great for it's intended purpose, except for its bulkiness

My son has sucked his thumb since birth
Definitely worth the money. Seems to have gotten the job done in just 1 week! My son has sucked his thumb since birth. When he started school he slowed the habit to only suck his thumb at night or when he's relaxed or lounging. He lost his 1st top front tooth the week before Thanksgiving (just after turning 6) and I purchased the TGuard a week or 2 later, (so that his teeth wouldn't be any more affected than they already were). He took to the guard pretty well, he understood why he was wearing and was open to TRYING not to manipulate or take it off. After 1 week with the Tguard, he seems to be Thumb free. He has slept 2 nights without the thumb and hasn't popped it in while riding in the car either. He is 6 but more the size of an 8 yr old, so I ordered the Large. This product was definitely worth the money. We'd tried Mavala, Thumb, coaching and positive reinforcement but nothing worked. (It seems that Mavaala and Thumb might be better for Toddler or Younger thumb suckers).

Expensive but effective.
Very effective. Wish it wasn’t so pricey.

The comfort and price is fair
Just what I needed for my son, I helped him leave his dependence with his finger, I like that you can change the garters and it fits his hand, it is easy to wash and comfortable

It a mental thing so it work somewhat!!
It works somewhat! It does keep my 9yrs mind off sucking his thumb most days but it does interfere with his daily activities ( he pick up playing clarinet, now they have to switch him to trumpet. Also he can’t wear it during taekwondo due to break boards) Wish I knew about this product maybe 2 years ago. It could have work better. When there is a break, he right back in the same habit. It not tight enough, he managed to slide his thumb out when alone as I caught him once. So it work somewhat but disappointed that it cost over $150 for what it worth.
