Audio quality = AMAZING (detailed, tubey); factory QC = POOR (crackling noise, loose knobs)
AMAZING, nothing short of AMAZING, but not without its hiccups. This is my second A50 purchase, coming from the Sprout100 and the INFI hybrid class AB amplifier. For reference, my rig: TIDAL Hi-Fi subscription played with AUDIRVANA, speakers and subwoofer ELAC Debut B6.2 and DAC S.M.S.L SU-9 paired with some very good RCA interconnects. Brings tears to the eyes :) My first A50 did sound good, but within two days it malfunctioned, developing hiss and crackling noise on the right channel, similar to what others have experienced here. After several days with support (the very helpful Martina), I returned it and tried again with another purchase. Now this second one *ALSO* arrived defective, but a minor defect - the front knobs were loose and fell off the unit when assembling! Being reasonably handy I fixed it myself, but boy I was pissed! However, all it took was to turn it on... and amazing does it sound!! After breaking in a few weeks, I hereby testify the sound is somewhat holographic, delicious - I can't really stop listening to it, which is the greatest compliment any audio gear manufacturer can get. So, in short, their factory QC (or the shipping process, whatever) is indeed poor and NEEDS improvement. TWO defective units in a row! But it was all worthwhile. It works beautifully and I strongly recommend the A50 over anything you can get on Amazon regarless of the price. After coming from decades of Denon and Onkyo AVRs, then the PSAudio's Sprout100 amplifier, then the INFI's class AB hybrid tube amplifier, and *two* A50's, I'm now settled. This is an amazing purchase, regardless of the inconveniences and nuisances. Buy it! Be aware and ready to return it (once or twice) if need so, but eventually you won't be dissatisfied (do not recommend for travellers and international buyers for this reason). To the manufacturer: you *REALLY* need to pull up your socks with your factory QC and your shipping gear. When it works, the quality of the product overcomes the hassles (it is THAT good), but not all customers may have the same tolerance. All that said, congrats for this amplifier. It is marvelous. Ed

What an awesome sound - but what's even more awesome is TheTubeAmp store!
This product is sold on Amazon by TheTubeAmpStore. That's what I really want to write the review about - their service, honesty, prompt replies and quick turnaround on my repair amp which had a power transformer issue after 4 months of use. After I reached out, they replied within one hour. I described my issue and they sent me a shipping label. I boxed it up and sent it off. Four days later, Rick J. from the tech support team reached out, told me what my issue was and told me my options. Long story short, 10 days after I shipped it to them, it returned to my doorstep and was fixed 100% under warranty and has worked flawlessly for the last week. That was the most impressive customer service I've ever experienced in my many years in the HiFi hobby. Now the amp... it's so crystal clear. Yea, cliche, but the 300b tube sound is definitely more warm and slightly subdued. I have an Audio Space 2.8i (which costs more than this) which is a push/pull tube amp centered around the 12AX7 tube design. That ampo is also quite good, but it's very DIRECT and very dialed in. Kind of punchy, clear and more in-your-face sounding. And, the tradeoff is that it's kind of fatiguing. This amp (with the stock tubes) is anything but what I described. You won't get tired and dulled or over-stimulated senses from this amp. It's more mellow with the mids so smooth and warm. But, really, the biggest surprise was how wide the sound stage is. I didn't expect that. In my medium sized room it gets plenty loud and even turned up, no distortion at all. The sound seems to come from all around. I'm using them with vintage Klipsch speakers with a 95db efficiency rating. I've not tried them with anything other than these speakers...but I'm sure it'll be just fine with 88db rated speakers too. There's no hum or hiss at all. I use it to play my vinyl records. In between songs you cannot hear any surface noise. It also puts out plenty of bass. I have a subwoofer but I have not needed it with this amp. I think the stock tubes sound fine.... but after a couple months I read a lot of stuff where people have upgraded the 300b tubes with a pair of Genalex PX300B Gold Lion tubes. The are expensive (they start at around $420 for a pair of them). I didn't need them, but I wanted to just "hear" for myself what I was hearing about how these good these Gold Lion tubes were.... at this point I can say I will never buy another amp. I listen to a lot of jazz, acoustic music, indie rock and pop, old country and old school blues from the 1920s and 1930s. It all sounds great on this. The vocals are so clear and full. The knobs turn so smoothly smooth and the fit and finish is wonderful to look at. Even if you don't upgrade the 300b tubes, this will still sound great. These are only my opinions. I'm not an audiophile but heard how different the tube experience can be. Dang, no kidding. If you are considering your first tube amp - this will likely blow you away. If you are a tube guy already - maybe the 300b "tube reputation" has you wondering. I don't think you can go wrong with this especially at $849.

Great product but damaged tube
I like the amp very much. I have one issue with one of the tubes. From day 1, about 10 days ago, one of the 6N8P tubes arcโs at startup and it seems to do this all the time. iโve read up on this and this is a defective or a damaged tube. The arcโing creates a loud, popping electronic noise in the speakers, no matter what the volume is set on. Iโm hoping I can get a replacement for that tube from the vendor. I do not want to send back the 45 pound amp (for one tube) as that would be tough to repackage and send it back due to my physical limitation. Other than this slight inconvenience, I would recommend this amp. High quality and great sound. I donโt think I need another amp - ever! I bought this with the Klipsch 600M ii speakers and a new turntable. All are great. Just hope I can get a replacement tube.

More!
Had the company's A10 EL34 amp for 10 months with no problems decided to pick up their A50 300B Amplifier. The amp is built solidly unlike many reviewers claim that the 300B tubes are loose, the tubes in my Amp mount solidly, don't move. I'm guessing the people making the claim of loose tubes just don't have them seated properly. Another claim made by some people is this amp has a hum. My Amp is dead quiet, no hum. Maybe their equipment just isn't properly grounded. Another complaint I saw was barely operating VU meters. Again, mine work as they should, as sound levels go up the VU meters move more. Once the amp reaches audible distortion levels the meters are well into the red. The A50 weighs 40 pounds,, the A10 weight 23 pounds. The A50 claims to output 1-2 watts more than the A10. The A50 while not louder than then the A10 does have a much fuller sound. I'm guessing it has to do with the A50's larger transformers than the tubes. When I listen to the A10 I feel the need to run a Schiit Loki (4 band equilizer) between the source and the amp to get the sound I want. With the A50, I haven't felt the need for the Loki Equilizer. I do wish the A50 was point to point wiring, it isn't it has several PC boards and the 300B tubes sem to be mounted to two of them. We'll have to wait and see if it matters. Sound wise, I like the A50 over the A10, that said I feel the A10 has the edge when it comes to build quality since it doesn't employ point to point wiring. It does aper the A50 uses beer parts though. In the end, I like them both, both are great values... on sound where it really matters the A50 is clearly better.

One of valves failed (300B).
I ordered Amazon a "Boyuurange A50 MKIII Amplifier" on January 11, 2024. and I received the package here in Whittier, CA, U.S.A. on January 17, 2024 in a "perfect" packing. I set up the system, turned on, and noticed clear and fulfilled tone quality from the system. After about one and half months passed, I noticed the right channel speaker was silent, no music from it. I first checked all of the connections very carefully. But the right channel speaker kept silent. After long consideration I tried to switch valves right and left channel, 6N8Ps first then 300Bs. At the change of 6N8P right to left nothing changed. However, when I switched 300Bs right and left, the left speaker became silent this time. By this experiment, I could judge one of 300B valves was not working at all. What should I do under this circumstance? Should I send the skeptical 300B to the maker and ask them to test that valve? Or ask seller to send a new 300B? Please give me advice. I sent this message to the maker of this amp about 10days ago, because they gave us their email address everywhere in their instruction, Unfortunately no reply so far. .

Update. Now working unit
I donโt usually write reviews but I have to say the pros and cons of this buyer and product. Pros: Sturdy build on the chassis. This amplifier is a beauty to look at. Knobs are sturdy. Well packed on 3 boxes. Cons: item arrived two days late and as for the sound I canโt tell you because the rectifier arrived burnt out (center tube) so is a non working unit. Now that is a bummer. I wonโt be able to enjoy it for Christmas. Pros: at least the seller was quick to respond to my email a new tube had been promised. Waiting on it. Another major issue is the connection to the 300b tubes is so loose that I feel is going fall off just by looking at it. The other 3 tubes on the other hand are very firmly attached. Go figure. I will update accordingly. Letโs see how it goes. Update. Now is working. Thanks to Amazon customer service, namely Chery, she was very helpful. I received a new Rectifier tube. Look closely at the short video and you will see SMOKE coming out and a smell of burning. I freaked out and thought it was dead but to my surprise is still working. The burning smell is still there. Talked โburning periodโ I never thought of it literally. After two weeks of using sparingly and incrementally I can say with certainty that the issue is craftsmanship. The amplifier is made of high quality parts but it was put together well. As for the sound of โMy Godโ is sweet and strong. Highly detailed, strong bass and great sound stage. Thereโs a bit of hum if you put your hears to the speaker at the 12 oโclock position but otherwise Amazing sound. Letโs see how well it last. I listened to mostly Jazz and like I said sweet and strong. Iโm using Polk RTiA7 89db sensitivity and can hear very well. MyStreamer/ DAC is a Denon 2 and CD/DVD player is an old Pioneer Elite DV-46AV. I recommend it but with caution. Perhaps your model will be better put together. Good luck.

Very nice amp for the money
Interesting amp. Replaced a hi end legacy Sansui Au919 rated at 100 watts rms. This one is rated at 7 or so watts and I cannot turn it up more than 1/4 turn on the volume knob. Itโs driving Polk audio monitor 70 towers split off thru a Polk audio 10 inch sub. Nice sounding. The Polks seem to have woken up with this amp. Very nice looking. Well packaged from the manufacturer. Tube cage did come with mine. Dead quiet, no noises out of it but music. The only drawback seems to be be the vu meters. Unless the amp is turned up very loud, the vu meters do not register. It does put out some serious heat from the tubes. Am very happy with it so far. Update on 11/3/20: Contacted the tech support email listed with the product docs that came with the amp on 10/29/20. Asked them about the vu meters not being all that sensitive. So far no response. Will update this review again if I do hear from them.

Works well with speakers with 90db sensitivity.
Love the airiness and openness of voices, and stringed instruments, but I have no complaints at all with the power or sound quality of this amplifier. I was a little hesitant at first to make this purchase because I was going to power a pair of classic Advent, non-ported. Closed box, acoustic suspension, 3 way, 10 inch woofers, Advent 6003โs that I encouraged my mom and dad to purchase way back in the late 70โs. They barely used them so they were in like new condition. They were powered by a 120 watt Marantz receiver. So, being familiar with Advents I was naturally skeptical of this ampโs ability to power them sufficiently. Boy was I mistaken! My listening room is 12x 16x 17, roughly 3100 cubic feet. I listen to all genres equally, with the exception of metal, and really hard rock, all at levels loud enough to get dirty looks from my wife, and even neighbors at times, I have not been disappointed in the lease. Wonderfuly live and dynamic sound with surprisingly deep, tight, controlled bass performance. Even with the stock PSVANE 300bโs the midrange is sweet, with silky smooth highs! I usually set the volume knob between 10 & 11 oโclock, using my Mac Pro laptop and a Schmitt multibit Dac. I have used tube headphone amps previously but this my 1st tube powered amp for speakers. Extremely happy. Btw my Advent 6003โs are rated at 90db sensitivity. So donโt be put off by the seemingly skimpy 6 watt output of this amp. Been listening nearly 8 hrs a day since it arrived on Monday. Have the PSVANE 300b WE REPLICAS IN my cart and sure they will greatly enhance the sound. I should mention that nothings perfect, and yes I detect the amp clipping when set to higher output volumes, especially, and surprisingly when listening to some classical arias. I plan to help this by adding a sub woofer to relieve the amp of providing frequencies below 150htz. Best HiFi purchase in the last 10 years.

Sweet sounding unit
For the money this unit costs, you get a lot of return for your hard earned money. Tubes can be upgraded down the road if you like but there is no sense of urgency as amp sounds terrific as is with a huge and open soundstage with smooth highs. Absolutely a joy to listen to for hours. I've had numerous high-end audio products and this is a fantastic value and it's a keeper. Packaging was simply excellent with lots of padding thankfully.

Got to love tube amps
I was concerned about ordering this, but after trying it for a while I will say I'm impressed. Now that being said, it does need some simple improvements. You can find info about this on youtube. Out of the box it works well enough, but with simple upgrades you get much better performance. Warning, do not under any circumstance attempt such work unless you know what your doing!! It makes lots of heat and uses HIGH voltage. The glowing tubes looks really cool. I've built tube amps from start to finish and to buy the parts it would end up costing more then this amp cost. Now, don't expect ground shaking bass from this amp but this will depend on your musical taste. The bass is there but pair it with a sub if you like heavy bass. You will need good speakers of at least 90 spl rating or better. I have a pair of Axiom M3 at 90 spl hooked up and they sound great. So if you want an amp that sounds really good this will work for you. I use a turntable and the sound is great. I say scrap digital and go analog. It just seems more real to me, IMHO. Just remember being a tube amp it gets hot (keep children and pets from contact).

Good sound but not good quality
I'll give it a 4 star if just talk about sound for the price. I use it with my Fyne 500SP. It provide enough power. I only use it when listen to jazz and instruments, like violin, cello or piano. The sounds are warm and smooth. Comparing with my solid amp it lack of some dynamic and bass. So I won't recommend it for something like symphony. However, after only 3.5 years of occasional use, 2 to 3 hour a week, it broken. It looks like the power transformer is short circuited. Once I plug in the rectifier tube the fuse will break. Even it's not a high end expensive amp but for an amp that costs more than $1300, I still expect it last longer than 3.5 years, especially I didn't use it a lot. One thing confuse me is that this item had a tag of Amazon's Choice at the time I bought it. That's the major reason that I bought it. Just don't know why Amazon recommend such a poor quality product.
