Great value for price, easy to assemble
This was a tough one because there are a lot of factors at play here. It's particle board, which is why it's cheap. The cam lock fasteners aren't great but once assembled and in place it seems plenty sturdy for media storage (I had to retighten them after moving it in place as they'd wiggled loose a bit). Be advised that it seems amazon is shipping a lot of these via UPS - and I don't know if it's that courier or just the way the product is handled in warehouses but mine showed up with barely a box left; they may as well have shipped it in a plastic grocery bag. It also arrived 4 days later than promised (but I guess thats just the deal you get with Prime these days, right?). Despite that, except for a few chipped corners, all parts and hardware were still there so that's a plus! Assembly was simple, it took me 10 minutes by myself. Instructions are clear pictures with written instructions, also goes together intuitively. So yeah there are issues; but also, it's a great price point for what you get. Once the backing is secured, it actually feels very sturdy, and you can't beat the capacity for the small footprint! It looks clean and simple, has lots of shelves and options for adjustment, fits about anywhere you'd like to put it, and is designed in such a way that if you ever needed extra storage one day, adding one beside the existing would look seamless (a huge bonus for media collectors!). All in, I can't give it less than 5 stars. I'd buy it again!

Decent, small shelf that does exactly as advertized.
I purchased one of these intially as a test, since some of the reviews had me a tad skittish over buying it. Once I got it I found the shelf was pretty securely packaged in its box, and once I started building it the process wasn't too bad. I nearly made one small mistep at the start but it was easy to fix before I got any further. Pay close attention to how you have each wood panel arranged, because it DOES matter when you're building it. I think a lot of people's issues were from them not getting the panels to face the correct direction. After I built it and had it up against my wall it was perfect for holding media. The adjustable shelves were nice and I was able to put a lot of manga, DVDs, and VHS tapes on it. One shelf wasn't enough for the amount of media I had to store so I ordered a 2nd one and I put it together more easier than the first shelf. Together they are perfect. I then bought two more a few weeks after that to redo my library and now I have 4 of these things covered in media. I'm very happy with this product and I would recommend it to other people if they need something that's designed for media storage. I gave 4 out of 5 stars for sturdiness because it's a tad 'shakey' when you're trying to move it around to where you want it. Once you get where you need it and fix it in place it's very solid and I've had no issue. Just be careful when you've moving it from room to room after you put it together.

Looks Good, Stable, Fairly Easy To Assemble, But Could Have Quality Control Issues
UPDATE (2024): I ordered a second unit and one of the side panels had significant quality control problems. The plastic grommet was partially filled with residual plastic, and all of the other holes on the panel had the vinyl wood veneer partially overlapping them. So I had to carefully fix all these issues with an X-Acto knife. While this wasn't a big issue for me as I'm a retired R&D engineer and son of a carpenter, I'm not sure the average consumer would have recognized what the issues were and been able to so easily fix them. So while my original review stands, and the second unit came together just as sturdy and good looking as the first, I had to take off a star as a warning to other consumers and Atlantic Oskar. One or two minor defects would have been fine, but a panel with every hole defective should never have been shipped. ORIGINAL (2021): I wasn't quite sure whether or not to purchase the Atlantic Oskar Adjustable Media Cabinet because of mixed reviews, with some claiming it was of poor quality, difficult to assemble, flimsy or unstable after assembly, etc. However I found none of that to be true for the unit I received, and I'm very happy with it. It looks good, is very sturdy and stable, and was relatively easy to assemble. My suspicion is that, because of the similarity of the parts, many people are assembling the unit incorrectly. It's really not difficult to assemble, but you have to look very closely at the pictures and make sure you're using the correct parts in the correct orientation. For example, the side and middle planks look almost identical, except 3 have lock nuts on the end and 3 don't. And the bottom plank has to be correctly oriented or the screws attaching it won't be countersunk and instead protrude a bit from the bottom. And when you turn the unit over to nail on the backboard you have to hold the middle to support it a bit because the extra lip on the bottom holds one end up a few inches making it slanted when it's on its face. However I've assembled many pieces of furniture over the decades and this is par for the course for any assemble-it-yourself unit. The bottom line is that this unit is actually above average in quality and ease of assembly, and I highly recommend it.

Dissappointing!
Review of the Atlantic Oskar Adjustable Media Cabinet in “Espresso” Color: The "espresso" color was expected to be a dark brown but appeared almost completely black. Indoors, the shelf looks black, and it is only under direct sunlight that a hint of brown can be discerned. Instructions: The instructions were mediocre at best, providing basic guidance but lacking clarity and detail that could have made assembly smoother. Parts Quality: The quality of the parts was disappointing. One of the cam locks (#2) broke and two others bent during assembly. The screws intended to work with the cam locks were slanted and too small, making it difficult for the locks to grip effectively without slipping. Despite having experience assembling many pieces of furniture with cam locks, I have never experienced one that broke during assembly. I had to replace three of them using my own supplies. The wooden dowels provided were too short. Once inserted into the holes, they barely protruded and failed to contribute to the stability or cohesion of the shelf. Assembly Challenges: When turning the unit upside down to attach the backing, the shelf's design flaw became evident: the bottom sticks out farther than the rest, causing it to lay slanted. This resulted in the cam locks disengaging from the screws, preventing successful attachment of the back panel. Due to this issue, I couldn't complete the assembly as the cam locks kept failing. Sturdiness and Stability: The shelf felt flimsy even during assembly. Its durability was questionable, with serious doubts about its ability to hold the advertised number of CDs or survive a move. Additionally, the shelf would require securing to a wall to prevent it from tipping over easily. Conclusion: Overall, the Atlantic Oskar Adjustable Media Cabinet in “Espresso” fell short of expectations due to poor part quality, assembly difficulties, and a misleading color description. Sources Personal experience and observations during the assembly process. Analysis based on typical furniture assembly standards and expectations.

Great shelf
I took a chance and ordered this from the Amazon warehouse and got it at a discounted rate. I. was very happy with the item and ended up with a shelf that suits my needs perfectly. It is the exact depth of a DVD case and the adjustable shelves are nice. I did end up with four extra shelf pieces because I am not using this for CD's at all. I was so happy I ordered a second from the warehouse that said it didn't come with instructions and felt confident I'd get another good unit(which I did). I will say that if you order one and haven't put one together you probably don't want to order one without instructions lol. The instructions aren't the best either but easy this shelf is easy enough to figure out putting together if your handy. This is not a "high quality" shelf unit so font expect it to be solid wood boards. It is partical board but is nice looking and once its put together and your DVD's are on it it's not like anyone will be looking all that close at it and doing inspections. It's a shelf and it serves it's purpose. The ones we got and put together are sturdy and don't wobble but I can see how if they aren't properly put together they could be wobbly. Delivery was ok but I have to say that I'm getting a bit tired of paying for PRIME membership and not getting the item delivered in the two day window. I ordered this PRIME on a Friday night and expected it would be a Monday delivery and but instead it was a Wednesday delivery. Overall I'd order another one of these units if I need another one in the future because it saves space and holds a lot of DVD's and it's a good price. Oh and for those that want to know I it will hold 20 standard DVD cases per shelf space and a total of 240 per shelf unit or 22 blue-ray's per shelf space and a total of 264 blue-ray's per shelf unit. I'd recommend this shelf for those looking for an affordable, nice looking and space saving shelf for their media.

Cheap Even For Me; Should Only Hold DVDs/Games
This shelf is objectively horrible and will probably end up looking bad by the time you're done with it. BUT video games are light enough that it can still house them, and I GUESS that's what it's made for. I really don't think it's strong/safe enough to hold a console...not that the shelves are thick enough to even come close to housing anything beyond a Switch. The real kicker is the stressful and frustrating assembly process. I didn't even know what particleboard was before this. As it turns out, it's fragile wood that you can hear crack apart while screwing screws into their designated holes. Every screw created an unsettling crinkling sound as it went in. I even got a 2-inch crack in the back. I swear I was screwing them in normally. The screws also kept stripping. Apparently screws can be this fragile. I tried multiple screwdrivers just in case THAT was the problem and all of them stripped the screws, even when I was trying to be as gentle as possible. The instructions are the least of your worries when building this, but near the middle they get confusing. I just winged it and happened to get it right. It stands up without falling over — the lip at the bottom is just enough — but it does wobble concerningly. It comes with wall mounts to fix this if you'd be willing/able to do that. As a result, this should probably go in a place where people aren't walking by. I know nothing about shelves, but now I know that apparently $60 will buy you the bare minimum, "maybe acceptable" quality that you'd probably want to avoid...unless you REALLY don't care. I managed to get it built at least. But as a result of the shoddy wood and screws, I wonder how well it'll hold. However, even in this sad state it will hold games...which is mostly why I bought it. And apparently no one else makes shelves close enough to this shape/size. But the building process is frustrating and the quality truly is weak, so I recommend putting in the elbow grease to look for an alternative and save this as a last resort. As for me, I was planning on having it replace my other shelf. But since I have it built now, I'm using it next to my other shelf for just my games.

This book shelf is very durable I got this about 3 years ago.
Very think and sturdy, looks amazing with my bed decor. Extremely easy to assemble (follow instruction TO DETAIL). Multipurpose shelf, but I used it for my perfumes, lotions, and things of that nature. with nothing on it, it is very light weight. True to size and height, very spacious and holds a lot.

For the price it's great
Con's: -was missing 1 part to hold the last shelf up, but amazon is sending a replacement out in a hurry -will not survive a move, because indeed it's that compressed wood -has minor scratches and is peeling at places.however you wont notice them if strategically placed ;) -instructions tell you what to do, however they don't tell you what not to do. i.e:i had to unscrew the thing 3 times because i got it facing either the wrong direction or even upside down. only way to know if you got it right is to examine the pictures closely. -If you have a strictly DVD collection with the cases, you will have to remove four shelves and therefore i consider that wasted space. it's not too big a deal because they give you plenty of customizable shelves it's just the notches to adjust the shelves are spread too far apart and don't have enough of them to maximize that potential. Pro's: -For the price, and service the con's are absolutely worth it. got it for $60 -Looks Awesome -easy to assemble but see con above yes i would recommend this, yes i would buy another. it looks beautiful and assembly wasn't so bad. the instructions are adequate and amazon's service to replace it was fast. however i had to use google to find their contact us page. its hard to say but this 1 unit might hold my collect and remove the clutter, so i might not need to order another. if i had to however, i would be happy to. If you need a media rack to remove the clutter, get this. when placing the backboard on the unit, lay both pieces out on it before you start nailing it in so that your sure it's the way you want it.

Nice Media Storage Shelf
I needed to find a new media storage shelf as I have DVD's and BLUERAYS starting to pile up in a tote. But the prices of those were expensive and was looking for a more pocket book friendly one. I have bought media storage units from elsewhere and they were much better then this unit. Pro: Unit does have adjustable shelves so will work for the media size you require. I needed to fit both dvd and blueray so of course, will have extra shelves left over. Generally speaking, it is easy to put together and labelled. Cons: Low end wood product. Particle type board and not very strong. The units design is not made to be put together very sturdy. The joint in the middle of top and bottom portion is very poor and don't see that holding for long. The clips supplied are also not strong and the metal could be broken in your hands. I actually had one do that. I don't expect this to hold much if have to move. And if you follow the instructions for putting on the back board, cause of the way it is designed, if you follow that, you will literally snap the whole shelf in half so don't do it that way. For how much paid, I did expect stronger quality. Ones I got before from elsewhere are much better but that place closed and the ones similar cost too much $$$ from those who have them. To me, the quality of this unit does not match the price paid. If you don't mind having to reinforce some areas of this unit, then you could turn this into a better sturdy option.
