The Elements of Academic Style û Writing

This book has changed the way I write and the way I think about writing. I wish I had had it earlier in my academic studies. In my experience, so much about writing had to be picked up intuitively, or by practicing (even when you weren't sure what exactly you were trying to improve); Hayot makes explicit things like structure using examples and visual diagrams. I'm recommending this to pretty much everyone I talk to! Writing is exciting again!

Arrived without damage, useful book for college students

I was really sad with this book. Many of the pages (more than 10) arrived with their corners folded, and after unfolding them, I noticed that the edges weren’t cut properly—some pages stick out noticeably beyond the rest (see attached photo). The paper quality also feels very cheap and rough, unlike what I’d expect from a professionally printed book. This is not what I paid for, and it reflects very poorly on quality control. Definitely not worth the price.
