Reading the product description, I thought this as a hand grater, and a hand shredder, made from thai coconuts. Upon receiving my order, I immediately unpacked it and went about trying to grate my hand. Please note that my hand is reasonably large, and the grating implement is small. Also, being that my hand is quite calloused from other more disappointing hand graters, it took quite some time to get down to through the first few layers of skin. Nevertheless, the grater eventually did its job. ... So. I moved on to the hand shredder (or so I thought). While the grater was able to eventually do what I expected, the shredder just never did shred my other hand. It kind of lacerated it (with enough force), and I have a bruise where a large glass bowl fell on my hand while I was vigorously shredding (and shaking the cabinets). But no shredding. I guess for hand shredding I'll just have to fall back to the garbage disposal. ... I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, so I tried contacting the company. After explaining my predicament, they forwarded me to a psychiatric hotline. Not only did the hotline operator not speak English very well, they also had no idea how I should use these tools to shred my hand, nor were they able to confirm that said implements were actually made out of Thai coconuts. ... Finally I gave up and came back to the product description, and realized my error. I bandaged my hands, found a coconut (I'm not sure if it was a Thai coconut), and successfully grated and then shredded it. These implements work very well when you use them properly.

I only tried the half circle side. It is sharp and digs well to get the meats out of an opened coconut. My kids love it. Beat using spoon definitely.

I will never order anything like this. This coconut meat grater is a piece of junk. It bends and it won’t get any of the coconut meat out. It’s like using a plastic straw and I think that would even work better then this tool.

You can accomplish what you need to with this, but the metal is VERY VERY cheap and pliable and it definitely makes the process frustrating. I would recommend a different option and cannot recommend this product

I am going to make papaya salad with this tool. Handy to have the other tool to shred my coconut.

Works as expected but be careful not to push these things too hard or they will bend and the handles will crack. If you are big into coconuts you'd best get a better tool, preferable one with a full metal tang instead of these metal ends pinned to a wooden handle.

Worked well despite the medal part being a little flimsy. Did not put too much pressure as it will bend so I ended up reinforcing and holding with my fingers as I was scraping.
