Yes you can even get red wigglers. After using for pet bedding soak it and drain the excess water which is full of nutrients to water plants. After a half a day or so you can give the wet bedding to the worms. You move the bedding aside and put your veggie scraps and this bedding on top keeps bugs from getting to the other scraps. If you do get some other bugs you add diaematious earth on top also.

Does this contain scent or baking soda?

No scent in this one (they make scented ones) and as far as I know there is no baking soda in this one. It's just ground up paper.

Is the "Natural" bedding scent free? Just want to be sure. Do they give any clues as to what it is made from?

It smells a little bit paper like, but there's no artificial scent to mask odors. That being said, we have to guinea pigs and this bedding really didn't smell bad after a few days at all.
