Should I trickle charge the battery before installing? I've seen on the internet some people recommending this.

It is always wise to top off new batteries. they lose some charge in storage before they sell. By doing so it " trains " your battery into having a smoother future charge and discharge.

Will this battery replace a yuasa np7-12fr 7.0 ah sealed lead-acid battery?

The "FR" means flame retardant. Unless you have a special application, the regular battery without the FR should be fine. Same size. Same voltage. Same capacity.
