Great, but somewhat cumbersome
An excellent device, backed up by many high quality medical studies and research articles. I did some research on its claims, as I cynically anticipated it being a heavily asterisked claim backed up by smallprint as vague as “5.5 out of ten users reported”; but no, this device and its potential benefits seems to have been studied extensively. My anecdotal experience is that, as a former smoker I used to suffer bleeding gums almost daily while and after brushing despite using a powerful electric toothbrush and chlorhexidine based mouthwashes and toothpastes. After even a week of once daily use with this, my bleeding had subsided significantly; and in the subsequent weeks the bleeding stopped entirely. My mouth feels so much cleaner, too, generally! The sensation of using the device is likely to be unusual or uncomfortable to begin with, but you soon get used to it; the initial discomfort highly outweighed by its proven dental benefits and a definitely smoother and cleaner mouthfeel after use. I have not had any issues with the battery life, or the power output being weak; I use it on its highest setting and putting a finger tip near the jet, it feels like a physical object almost pricking the finger. The only thing I would say is I would have appreciated a larger water tank; as the device in my opinion isn’t very portable as it is, being far larger than an electric toothbrush or something of that nature, and is unlikely to go travelling with me. I think the product designer should have considered that and added a larger water tank (even 1.5x the capacity it is) given that it certainly isn’t even massively portable in its current state. I feel that would have been a worthwhile design compromise, as in its current form I either have to be very swift with my usage or refill the tank once while using it thoroughly (front and back of all teeth gaps and gums) on the high power setting. Not a big deal, but I think would have been easily rectified and would benefit from sacrificing its “portability” for a greater capacity. The issues people seem to have with not being able to see the controls or light displays while using it I couldn’t really agree with, as you can very easily rotate the head of the device a full 360 degrees, which means when using it in the mirror I can clearly see the setting I’m on and the battery indicator lights while I’m using it. I purchased a second one for my partner, and two of my work colleagues also purchased after one my recommendation and also only have positive things to say about the Waterpik. Perhaps I would have thought twice at its original retail price, but I’m really glad I picked (Piked?) this up at a discounted price during a lightning deal. + Easy to use + Powerful water jet + Very clean teeth and gums, post use + Clinical/medical research backs up its claims + Sturdy device + Great add on accessories + Decent battery life - Not in my opinion very portable at all, other than from room to room in the house - Quite cumbersome, might not suit older people or those with upper body strength impairments - Low capacity water tank

Great flosser that flags very well but quality less than expected
Very good cleaning, tank is of reasonable size, easy to fill. Easy and quite pleasant to use. Build quality needs improvement. The tank lid plastic got brittle after 3 years when the first hinge broke and after about 3.5yrs the lid broke off altogether. Cleaning the unit is a bit of a faff but doable. The unit started leaking internally after about 3 years. After 4yrs of daily use the battery is dead, lasts just 3-4 sessions now. It is their top of the range and most expensive model when I would have expected more longevity in all aspects, ie, not quite value for money for me.

Transformed my oral hygiene
As a person that doesn't like flossing or interdental brushes this has been a game changer for me. It took a few attempts to get the balance right of letting the water out but I worked my way up to the high setting. It sounds gross but to see the small bits in the sink really motivates me that it is working. I use before brushing and it has made brushing my teeth an even more pleasant experience. You need to remember your charger if going on holiday as it doesn't last many days if you use the high setting. I use four tanks a day - two each time but I can get round my mouth in one if need be and it lasts about 2 to 3 days. You may need one of the bathroom / shaver converter plugs too. It is bulky and weighty to hold if you have low dexterity but for me it is perfectly fine. May update the review after my first trip to the hygeniest to see if they agree it has improved things. Edit: Hygeniest noticed a big improvement and I've gone from 3 monthly to 6 monthly appointments so the product has paid for itself already. He still thinks I should use brushes / floss and mouth wash too to improve even more. Dentist also said "To keep doing what I'm doing because it is working". Note I also use an electric toothbrush too.
