I don't see any new reviews on this product. Am thinking of buying it as a Christmas gift for my son and his wife. Does it hold up?

Yes, it works and it does hold up. However, as the other reviewer said, it is rather clumsy. I've had mine for several years with no problems.

Can someone tell me if this device has any paid subscription at all? Some devices make you pay for their website services and I want to avoid that.

The only paid subscription is if you want to use their NeatCloud service (optional). Otherwise, no fees.

does it print out "reports" so that an accountant can file my taxes?

Although I've not used the report feature yet as I still have mounds of documents to add to clean up 3 years of taxes for my parents to be cleaned up. It does create 3 different reports you can use for your accountant. You can create an Expense report, Tax category report that breaks expenses down by vendor, Sales tax report, Tax form Summary report & spending summary. You can also grant your accountant access to the cloud files for reference if they need to see an individual item. You should also be able to import & export reports into quicken & possibly even quickbooks.
