Updated 4 years 2017-2021 outdoors : I Love it. Beware you don't let spool go slack and reverse wind
Updated: Read many reviews of problems. The lift belt is a continous loop, If you allow a TV to manually lower too far, the belt may begin to spool up in reverse. It other words the TV lowers and then starts to lift back up. If it does this your controls will act in reverse. Down is Up, Up is Down. Easy to fix. If the tv is all the way retracted, press the "UP" button. TV will lower down. Let it lower ALL THE WAY DOWN while maintain a little light finger pressure on the TV. DON'T STOP THE MOVEMENT. TV Will eventually come all the way down and then Correct the reverse wound lift belt and begin to lift the TV up. Once it is moving up, controls will work normally again. This has been the case any time someone unfamiliar with the lift, lowered the TV and allowed it to "Reverse wind itself because they didnt stop the downward motion before it happened. The mount appears very well made and operates perfectly. My application is outdoors with a Vizio 50" hung from a shallow pitched ceiling. The self adjusting maximum lift position function worked very well.. The device is ingenious in the use of a spooling web band as the lifting method. The lift speed is perfect IMHO. Gives you time to view the screen position before it overshoots the position you want. It is QUIET too. Outdoors the remote has limited distance and I must be within about 6 feet of it to work. The remote is a little quirky, and I have yet to set the Memory positions, so no comment yet on them. Thus far perfect and a great value. Update: A month of daily use with it mount out doors under a pavilion. The thing continues to work flawlessly smoothly lifting a 50" Vizio. Love it...

How to make your friends a little jealous and improve your living space greatly
I had a vision for what I wanted my living room to be able to do and this is literally the only ceiling mount that filled the bill. I have big bay windows facing the woods and the view is really amazing, but it’s also the only place to put a tv and blockIng the windows was defeating the point of having the windows. I thought there would be several choices to fold the tv up it was just a matter of the cash, but I found that there is only the hang down ceiling mounts, or folding ones for really small tvs not the main family one. I saw this one and watched the videos and read the reviews and decided I would buy and install myself with the help of my girlfriend. We braced the ceiling because my house is very old and all wood paneled and we weren’t 100% sure it would handle the weight. It was just a little extra work and made it easier to mount because we could do the stencil and predrill holes before we had to go up to the ceiling. Not only does it work but it’s pretty amazing how it transforms my little cabin into a seriously cool place. The power cord was too short and I didn’t like the idea of a extension cord up my wall and the company sent me a link to a cheap extra long power cord that is very thin and easily hidden. I had to buy a 15ft cord from Samsung for the tv and I’m waiting on the extra long hdmi cables to arrive soon can move the cords and equipment to a shelf away from the view. I have been actively looking for a way to replace the remote because I have read several times that it’s not replaceable by the company, but some programmable ones do work. It’s a great mount of you have a roof like mine. I have a samsung LCD 55’’ tv that is very light. It holds it and does the job no problem. It came with all the parts needed to do the job but no extras the bolts were very stripable so don’t use the wrong size drill bits or screw drivers or you’ll ruin the bolt. Plan your cabling and you’ll will bring your home theatre to a new level or a breath of fresh air to your living space.

Amazing & Cheap
This device is amazing, especially since it's the same price as non-electrical wall mounted units. It's a great space saver for boats (or any place, actually). Even in heavy waves, it works flawlessly. The only warning I can give is even if you think your roof is flat, it probably isn't and it might throw some error codes (beeping and stops working) because it is hyperflexing. There is an easy fix by programming the maximum drop. This is one of my best purchases ever for my boat. It really freed up the room and makes the salon feel much bigger. I'm going to buy more for the staterooms. It is easy to install because I hired a guy who is handy, but it only took about an hour from start to finish. The remote is kind of odd, in that the programmable buttons (that, in theory should only be set once) are the same size and are as prominent as the buttons to lower the tv to it's preset location. And, they are marked only as "mem1/mem2" and "1/2"

Very little NOT to like...
I just finished mounting this a few days ago to accommodate a 55” 4K television. The TV weight was about 38 lbs. so it’s well within specs. Mounting the assembly was straightforward and simple (just make sure you measure how close you are to any roof/wall intersections to accommodate for the TV when it is all the way up). The mount itself performs quite well, though I would have preferred just a bit more motor speed through range of motion. Not a big deal but certainly a design feature that could be improved. I really liked the cable troughs that help route wire from behind the mount to the front. This comes in tremendously handy if you want a clean look and no wires showing along the mount itself. An area of improvement here would be to set the wiring gaps closer to the outside edge of the troughs to accommodate thicker cables. Most HDCP 2.2 compliant 4K HDMI cables capable of transferring signals at 18+ Gbps tend to be thicker and less flexible, but are necessary for maximizing signal transfer to the TV. Not to mention, the troughs themselves could be a little thicker and still serve their purpose perfectly. The one and only feature to this product that I found absolutely frustrating - and the reason for four instead of five stars - was the fact that the mounting arm moved when trying to place the television onto it through the slide hole in the arm. The slightest pressure against the arm itself and it pushed backwards, making a single (or even two person) person job quite the chore. I ended up using cable ties to lock the moving arms together so this didn’t happen. Other than that, I have no complaints. The mount functions well, though it does wiggle slightly (could cause a bit of fear for others) and seems unstable. It isn’t, but I suppose you need some slack so that the joints in the swivel arms are able to work properly. Either way, I’d be hard pressed to say you will find a more suitable, versatile, and capable mount for ceiling application, ESPECIALLY in this price range. Thanks to Vivo and please keep up the good work.

Good product, does exactly what it should.
I installed this in my bedroom which is a finished attic. There are no flat walls opposite anywhere in the room where I could put the bed so something like this was my only real option. It was kind of difficult to install. I used a wooden board like I saw others do. After the fact somebody told me I could have installed it flush to the ceiling using 2x4's laid across the trusses in my ceiling and some extra long bolts. I happen to have an access panel right by where I installed it so that may not be an option for everybody. I may redo it at some point. In terms of operations, it takes about one minute to go up or down. It makes a whirring sound as it moves. It's not too loud. I'm not a huge fan of the remote (extra unused buttons) and it doesn't seem possible to use a universal remote so I am stuck having at least 2 remotes by my bed to use this. But if that's my biggest gripe, pretty damn good product. The look of it after installation is pretty decent. I am not super pumped about the ribbon which is used to move the TV up and down. Just looks a little janky. But it seems sturdy so no real complaints there. While the TV is up it looks great. The viewing angle does not go all the way down to 90% so only use this with a TV that will be overhead. If you are wanting to use this to watch straight on you won't be happy. Works great for my application though. I recommend it

Ok. So. I bought this january 3rd about...i actually didnt put it up till around march. I bought it for my home gym. I bought it for my big tv that i got. It for. Turnt out it was too big. The tv was..for over my flat bench my basement ceiling is abot 7 feet..so ok...i i mounted the unit on the ceiling..bolt holes wernt exactly where they needed to be... It worked great on chest days with tranier so he can spot i would send it up when i used the flat bench...about end of may early june..i notice something odd...i knew i left it down the night before and always do except when i am using the bench..huh..strange...so..i pushed the remote and it came back down...i left it...two days later...it was up again..so i put it back down...i was on my tread mil and out of no where it started moving back up..couldnt stop it..tried pull on the tv .it was pulling me with it... I mounted by the way a light 42 in lcd tv.. I plugged it out for one minute..all seem to be fine...then i went to do bench..sent it up..when i was done..brought it back down except...it came all the was down then kept going and pulled back up about 3 inches...so slanting but tv still very watchable and not an uncommon position... Not tonight found it up again...sent it down came down and kept going and went right back up and beeped a few times..will not come back down at all..now i have a tv stuck to the ceiling...that wont come down no matter what I was so happy with it when it worked..did not know in actually less than 5 month installed..that i would have a useless product... I decided to read through reviews to see majority of REAL reviews....and not reps of either entities who are varified buyers....majority of people like me had same issues... Technically the product malfunctions in about 3 months of use In my situation it only was pushed to go up once a week if i made it to my gym every day.. Away from shpwing people a few times..i personally sent it up less that 15 times...normally stays down all the time...

Very functional
I purchased this as I have limited wall space and looking for different options. I didn't even know this was a "thing" or even possible. It started out as a joke but after research i came across this. I was skeptical at first. It was fairly easy to install. After we figured out how the trusses were running, we had to go into the attic and add spacers for support. Darn things were going the wrong way. Lol We used the template that comes with it and boom we have a tv hanging from the ceiling that tucks out of the way. We did add in an outlet towards the top of the ceiling as I don't like cords hanging. Excuse the closet as this was mid remodel

Great for Garage Gym!
I was skeptical at first, but must admit this mount is amazing. I have a garage gym setup, and wanted to add a TV during workouts, but didn't want the TV in the way when not working out.... well this motorized fold down mount is perfect. I've used it for about 3 months now, and wanted to see how it held up in the cold before I wrote a review. The install is very simple (like any TV mount install, just make sure are getting your mount into wood studs, and if you are not, add a 3/4" or 1" plywood board backer). For a ceiling mount, you most likely won't be hitting all your screws into studs, so a solid plywood backer is a must. I have a 42" old school heavy LCD TV on the mount, and the motor still works like a charm. I am in Ottawa, where we have -40 degree C weather, and my garage gets down to -3 to +4 degrees on average for the colder winter days. The Mount still works fine, even with the heavier model TV. Also, for anyone wondering, the LCD TV holds up well in the cold weather, no issues so far. Will upgrade to LED at some point. The Fold up/down is pretty quick, maybe 30 seconds or so. I have it placed above the garage door (lift master door system, so there's no belt or chain), and it tucks away perfectly when not needed and it was otherwise un-used garage space. Slapped in a cheap ROKU stick and now I can watch anything while working out. Well worth the price for what it accomplishes in a small space. Very happy with this purchase for the home gym!

Great value, works just like I wanted
I wanted to installa TV into my son's bedroom, but there wasn't a good option to put it on a wall, so I came across this Vivo Ceiling TV mount product and it works realy well. I had to put some strengthening timbers above the ceiling in the attic/loft whihc was by far the hardest part. The rest of the installation was easy. I recommend this product.
