How do you keep this umbrella open?

It locks open. There is a lock mechanism to keep it open. A small button releases is to open as well as collapse and the handle is a telescoping type...all very easy to use and really pretty when opened. I love the matching carry bag it comes with...all neat and tidy

i can’t figure out how to open it?

It opens like a normal umbrella and you just unwrap the velcro that's all you do it's just basically an umbrella but you got to undo the velcro strap and I think mine came with something that keeps all together so you got to see if there's like a tag or something that keeps it all together

Yes, it has been incredible in rain and is well used, been bounced, thrown and dropped a lot and still holding strong. I think this umbrella/sun shield has been well worth the money. I would buy again if I needed it, but I don't because it's a great umbrella.
