This quite possibly is my favourite of all the Summerlake books. It drew me in immediately, changed my preconceived opinion of Leanne and I love that we actually learned Leanne and Ryans back story. This really felt more of a meaty book and I loved the depth and length of the story. I could feel SJMcoys love of this couple and their story, more than any of the other couples. I really didn’t want this book to end and I am hopeful we will return to this couple and also perhaps learn who might make Donovan smile!!! If you haven’t read any of SJMcoys books, they are a must. Review: Loved Leanne and Ryan’s story - I love this series of books set in Summer Lake. This was one of the highlights for me. Leanne and Ryan are mentioned every now and then in the other books but we didn’t really know much about them until now. I love seeing the other previous characters pop up too. It’s not necessary to have read the rest of the series to read this book but I recommend you give them a go. They are a fun and well written treat for an afternoons entertainment. I look forward to the next one.

Aw
So good to finally see the softer sides of the characters, and the backstory to what went down between the two of them.

A story with a difference
AN writes good novels, moving years took a bit of getting used to, but once into it was a good read.

Fight Like You’ve Never Lost - fantastic read
The fourteenth in SJ McCoy’s Summer Lake Series, this book could be read as a stand-alone, but I usually recommend you read ALL of SJ’s other stuff to date as you’d get a much richer experience as you’d recognise loads of characters, this book in particular benefits from the background reading to the level I went back and re-read two previous books: Fly Like You’ve Never Been Grounded and The Wedding Dance before reading this story. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair review . This book begins in the present day but features movement back and forwards in time to fill in the main characters history. The main couple have had a relationship in the past and we don’t know the details of it until this book. They have experienced trials that forced them apart, each blaming the other. We begin in the modern day when the female (Leanne) at the airport, where she happens to see the male lead (Ryan) in line for coffee. It transpires that their mutual friend had booked the plane tickets so you can guess they end up stuck next to each other. As you go back in time to see how they met and their relationship built and also fell apart you really get to understand both of their frustrations with the other. Add in personal hang ups and expectations and you have an unrepairable relationship. But the magic of Summer Lake is that everyone gets their happy eve after – even these two. Having previously met the characters I thought Ryan was OK and Leanne was not! I did not like her before her story. Of course as you read you learn why she is the way she is and you soften to her until you love her and are rooting for her to work things out with him. Yet another outstanding story by SJ McCoy and a very enjoyable return to Summer Lake, catching up on other characters as we go. Really enjoyed this book and found it a great read, with a few emotional moments thrown in – just like real life!

Fight like you've never lost
This is the story of Leanne and Ryan, after a whirlwind romance things take a turn when Ryans job comes between them and they are both left confused and angry with each other, years later they are both offered an exciting opportunity to work for Dan Benson. Dan is a lifelong friend from when they were all at University together and has now set up his own company and could use their unique work experience, Dan knows both sides of the story and forces them into a situation in the hopes they can work things out or at least be able to get over the past so that they can work together. Both sides believes that they are right and are reluctant to hear the other side of the story, they are still very much attracted to each other and are both fighting their own internal battles. I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."

You are not always seeing what you are looking at....
FIGHT LIKE YOU'VE NEVER LOST is a standalone read with a happy ever after. There are lots of sexy scenes if that is an issue for you. This is #14 in the Summer Lake Series. Ryan has a secret job. He will not do well to have a serious partner. He is a one night stand guy and is determined to stay that way. He is a gorgeous hunk so he has no problems with the ladies. He is currently taking a college course to help him with his job as a banker in another city. He meets Leanne, a law student, through a friend. She has no desire to have a serious relationship. She is all for making out with a guy if that is what she wants. However, no getting serious and never let them really get to know her. She has no family but a few really good friends. When Ryan hits on her she tells him yes, she is all for it, but she has rules. No getting serious, no feelings involved, just a good time and move on. He thinks he has met the perfect woman. But best laid plans don't always work. This is a really good story. Both main characters are tough, strong personalities. A misunderstanding causes them both to have a lot of heartache. Good lesson here. Always give the other person an open mind and a chance to explain what happened. It can save a lot of heartache. Lots of characters from the other books play a part. It is a small town so everyone knows just about everyone else so they do all play a part in business that is none of their business. But sometimes it helps. I definitely recommend the book and the series. A very good read and a great love story. I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 11/14/2020

Who sent the texts?
This story is more raw and wild but it has so many holes in the story. Who sends the strange texts? Both before the engagement with Brittany and then after with Janelle. Odd and not explained who and why?

Leanne and Ryan
Another great addition to this series. We get to take another trip back to Summer Lake to visit with some of out old friends, as well as, a few new ones that have recently been thrown into the mix. When we last seen Leanne she wasn't a very nice person. I know...but I'm trying to be nice here. But back then- because of her own securities-she had caused a lot of problems for Smoke and Laura. In fact; she wasn't a very pleasant person to anyone else there, either. So when I heard this story was going to be featuring her, I wanted to cringe. But....if anyone can change my mind about a person's first impression, it's SJ McCoy. She has a way of making us see a really nasty person, in a whole different light. And she did just that in this story, too. Duh...you'd think I'd learn to trust her by now. By the time the story was over I completely saw Leanne in a whole new light. Doesn't mean I didn't want to shake some common sense into her a few times along the way, because I surely did. lol! Ryan on the other hand, had won my heart and soul right from beginning. This guy put his heart- and even at one point his job- on the line for Leanne, only for her to stomp all over it for something he didn't even do. I can't believe Dan stepped out of his usual quiet corner, and into the middle of this whole thing. That part had me laughing so hysterically. Who knew he was such a schemer? I know it was a big surprise to me. I also loved the playful barbs between Manny and Ryan, and I'm sure it'll get more exciting when Cal comes aboard. And I'm glad to see that Smoke and Leanne finally made peace, too.

We should all be so lucky to find our own Summer Lake.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Summer Lake Series as well as the spin off Silver Fox Series, in fact, I have read all of SJ's books. This particular book Fight Like You've Never Lost touched my heart. We all wear a mask to hide the hurts we have lived through, to hide our vulnerabilities, but every so often some of us are lucky enough to find someone who can see the real us. Life is a rocky journey, be brave enough to travel even the rough paths. I can't wait to see what is next from SJ, thank you.

Put the Past Behind You
I have always been intrigued by Ryan and Leanne and their story; their story was so much bigger than I would have even guessed. From page one we are in the thick of things with these two already. I found it very interesting that Dan would try to be a matchmaker (taking a page from Missy’s book) but as the story progressed, he was always trying to be matchmaker or maybe a peacemaker especially with these two. I loved how we went from the present to the past and learned a lot more about Ryan and Leanne and their past and what went wrong and unfortunately their animosity toward each other present day. My favorite part was Dan and his ‘talk to me’. That really stood out for me especially for someone who is innately quiet and likes to just observe, that was telling that he cares about these two so much that he wanted to ‘fix’ things between them. Of course, I always enjoy getting to see old friends, but I appreciated that this story and book focused on the smaller group especially involving Laura and Smoke. While I was reading this it was in the back of my mind, that maybe this is bigger than both of them and they are both stubborn and maybe neither one will give an inch for a possible second chance. I did love the end especially that Ryan showed Leanne that what she thought was not accurate or true and that was the turning point for these two. Really great story with a beautiful ending.
