I know this thing has been the butt of many jokes (which is probably why I hadn't gotten one before now) but I have to say that this thing works great. I have really fine hair which makes it a pain to cut - even just shaving all around with a clipper guard. Because this thing vacuums the hair up away from your scalp it works perfect for fine hair. The only complaints I have is that one of the guard-tube things broke after light use and it is kind of a pain to mate the hose to my Dyson.

I must say that opening the box, reading the instructions and seeing all the little pieces was a little - no, a LOT - intimidating. But mobility is getting to be a problem for this octogenarian and I'm sick and tired of paying ridiculous prices for a shampoo and haircut only to come home and straighten out a mess myself. My hair is fine and short and "ragged" cuts simply will not do. So......in desperate need of a haircut and not wanting to try yet another stylist, I decided to just go for it. After all, they say the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is three weeks. It was soooooooo easy! And my hair is cut evenly and exactly the way I like it! The most convenient vacuum cleaner I had was a 40 year old Electrolux which will still suck the carpet off the floor. And as I learned, it will suck the Flowbee right against the scalp when you have the shortest adapter on it! Thankfully, I was working on the neckline, so no damage done, but I will probably try to work the Flowbee vacuum into the budget soon. I used three different adapters and have used my label maker to mark #1, #2 #3 to remind me which ones to use in case I forget. I am sooooooooo happy! Great product! And no more sitting for an hour waiting for someone who doesn't know how to manage his/her schedule, then coming home disappointed once again! Doesn't get any better than this!

It's painfully loud near my ears and super awkward to use. I certainly wouldn't use it on myself. It should have come with the angled piece for going around the ears and back of the neck but it didn't. Had to order that separately. We use it but it's not something I'd buy again.

Works great for mens hair that it kept short. If your hair gets to long its a little challenging. Its my second one. The first one lasted twenty years

I prefer to cut my own hair. Don't like sitting in a chair while someone fusses for 20-30 minutes. Don't like waiting around for that to be done. My hair (wavy) has a mind of its own; one day looks good, next day looks like I just got out of bed regardless what I do. With Flowbee: once a month before a shower I can get it out, put it together, give myself the haircut better than any of of the salons, barbers, et.al. at no charge in 10 minutes and be done with it. Humorously, friends have asked who cuts my hair b/c they like my haircut; then laugh when I tell them I do it myself with a Flowbee. Definitely worth the money for time and convenience and good results. CON: The vacuum interface can be a challenge. ALL good vacuums are noisy. For me a SMALL Craftsman (4 Gal.) with a personally modified connection for the long Flowbee tube was a challenge and necessity for convenience and ease of setup after the first use.

I used my original Flowbee for years. It was crushed when we moved so I immediately purchased another to replace it. I love this thing! I cut my hair when I want it cut, so no wasting time going to a salon. My hair is cut the perfect length every time which was always a big issue when going to a salon. Seems the beautician would cut my hair the way she/he thought it should be cut and not the way I wanted it. Now it gets cut perfect every time. And since it is hooked up to the vacuum cleaner, there is no hairy mess to clean up. I now get a perfect cut, when it is convenient for me, and no high salon prices to pay. I love it!

Incremental lengths of cut as, long as you don’t get too aggressive it turns out perfect. Also because the vacuum cleaner involved you don’t need to take a shower there is no itchy hair left.

Overall, the flowbee is fantastic! It is user friendly, and for the first time in years, I found someone who will give me a haircut just the way I want it, and that person is me and my Flowbee! I like the fact that there's no mess to clean up, or shower afterwards! It's awesome! Going to the barber is a thing of the past for me. Thanks! your satisfied customer: Pete.

I purchased my Flowbee from Amazon US (via Amazon Aus) for use in Australia and was worried that it wouldn't work on Australian 230V power (different from US 110V). It did work, as the plug provided included transforming range of 100-240V. All you need in Australia is a US-to-Aus plug adaptor. As for the Flowbee itself? Had I paid almost AUD400 for a vacuum hose? Well, it makes cutting my hair almost as easy as trimming my beard. Its cuts cleanly and consistently, doesn't snatch your hair, you can see what it is doing when you see your hair being vacuumed into the spacers and up to the cutting blades. And there is no mess! The design prevents you from accidentally over-cutting. Pay attention to the "trim 1/2 inch of hair" mentioned in the manual when you set up the spacers. The "foot" should be perpendicular to the spacer (I made mistake trying to insert foot into spacer). I had out-of-control hair when I got it and went through a process of progressively shortening it, 1/2" at a time. It is not time consuming in use. I agree with points in some other reviews - the Flowbee plus the vacuum cleaner can be a bit loud if you use it for longer. I got mine without the MiniVac. Only just got it but can already see myself using it for years. Recommended!

The unit itself works great/as described but the plug/adapter/power supply died on the second use.
