SmallRig Mini Follow Focus with A/B Stops & 15mm Rod Clamp and Snap-on Gear Ring Belt for DLSRs and Mirrorless Cameras, Fits Different Diameter Lenses Up to 114mm

I have a tiny rig built around the a7c. Most of the time I just use the a7c in auto mode by itself, but occasionally I want monitors, grips, etc I actually rarely use a follow focus so I didn't want to invest in something expensive. I also wanted something super compact and simple. When I saw this on sale at $85 I bought it, not expecting much. But I was surprised. It came well packed, includes a nato rail to 15mm rod adaptor. Installation on my set up is super simple. I had it underneath the lens. The follow focus comes with an elbow piece that I don't need. It came off easily so basically the follow focus is one solid piece that is mounts directly to my 15mm rod and is very sturdy. The wheel turns smoothly without any catch. It's well damp with just a trace of backlash. Fit and finish is excellent. The stops are simple and works perfectly. Overall, it's excellent at the $85 price. Some may want to have a case included like the tilta version. I can see how that's useful. But on my rig, it's so tiny, I just leave it on the rod so no case needed. But it'd be nice to at least have a case for sale for those needing one.

Previously with my DJI gimbal i had used an electronic focus adjuster. It was a pain to configure and setup. With this manual one it worked perfectly. Zoom function on my lens was simple and easy to use this completed my rig. It was easy to mount, a had to adjust the screws a few times but no big issue. It was strong enough to use as a grip but I would not solely rely on it. Weighs almost nothing. Overall 5/5 would recommend.

Reliable, affordable, looks okay and it's easy to use.

If you’re a one man wrecking crew doing it all on your own (camera, sound, etc) with the right set-up (I use a cage) this is your huckleberry. Affordable and relatively easy set-up. Seems to work with both focus or zoom (I use on focus). The snap on gear belt works pretty well for me also. I shoot with a Sony A7 rii and most of the time a Sony 24-240 - (3.5 - 6.3) lens along with a Gearbox Cage and everything seems to line up well nicely with the rails. I’d highly recommend for a low budget shooter.

This is a much better option for manual focus than the “grip-n-rip” method. You’ll no longer forget which way to twist the focus ring and ruin shots. Very comfortable wheel to turn. There are turn limiters so you can easily rack focus between subjects - for example 2 ppl talking. My complaints are not really a fault of the product but something to be aware of: 1. This kit comes with one “zip tie” style lens gear so if your lens doesn’t have gears, you’ll have to cut the excess and essentially need to buy lens gears for all of your lenses (if the barrels are different sizes) 2. If you use compact lenses (as I do) - at its minimum distance the gear on the focus puller will not align with the focus ring on the lens. Rendering this device useless. Make sure you have a big enough lens before you buy.

A must have piece of kit, and you could do worse than buying from Smallrig. Solid design, fits snuggly on the rail, easy smooth turning with locking screws to hard stop you at your focus points for pulling in and out, and has a little ring you can mark on if you need multiple reference points. The grip is perfect, never slips, never feels like it's gummy or weird in my hand. The gear meshes perfectly with cinema lenses that are anticipating that sort of thing, but if you're using something that doesn't have that, smallrig has you covered with a band that wraps around your lense to give you that traction ad well as a rubber ring that can fit over the gear itself to track onto grippy surfaces around photo lenses. It offers just enough resistance to let you know it's there, but not enough to keep you from switching focus fast during action scenes or filming sports. Over, great value.

Smallrig everything has been great to me.

Great functionality for the price. Very versatile, Wonderful to have with you in your everyday gear pack as a just in case or a backup. Does require some small screw tightening on occasion, also the device has the ability to change the gear sides depending on the lens or setup. The cap that covers the unused side will eventually become useless when the little o-ring gets lost or wears out. This size is very difficult to find and SmallRig wasn't able to help me replace it. The device is still perfectly usable but the cap cover will no longer able to stay attached.

Excelente material. Lo he ocupado para algunas grabaciones y no me ha fallado. Lo único que no me termina de convencer es el anillo que viene para montar en los objetivos. Lo siento un poco ineficiente. Me gustó la presentación, se siente como una buena inversión.

Saca del apuro. Si tienes uno inalámbrico y por lo que sea no está funcionando, es obligatorio tener este en la mochila. Es más cómodo que tomar el anillo con la mano, los stops ayudan mucho para hacer del enfoque algo narrativo y dar buenos efectos muy precisos, old school, pero vaya que ayuda

Bien conçu pour la taille d'une DSLR / Mirorless, il est solide et léger et à plusieurs ajustement possible. Le foyer est précis et le mouvement se contrôle bien. Par contre, la bague dentelée de lentille «universelle» est vraiment problématique : instable, l'attache bloque rapidement alors que la longueur supplémentaire qui dépasse accroche partout dans la cage, les rodes, etc. SAMLLRIG devrait plutôt fournir à l'achat un lot de bagues de lentilles bien ajustées au lieu de nous laisser les commander séparément - un peu comme les quatre différents «stepup ring» inclus avec leur «lightweight mattebox». En attendant qu'ils se montrent généreux, je conseille former d'acheter la/ les bagues du bon diamètre pour vous pour profiter pleinement du follow focus !

Lo que me gustó de este follow focus es que puedes sentir que el material es bastante resistente y preciso, viene empacado en una caja de plástico sólido que es un gran plus para transportarlo, muy recomendado
