Enough power to start a Dometic Penguin II without a silly capacitor accessory.
It’s strange what impresses me lately. I never realized “can allow the air conditioner for a 72 square foot space to power on” would be high praise for an electrical component and yet, here we are. Dometic, despite their claims of modernity, mostly produces appallingly inefficient appliances with 1950s technology solely because RV buyers don’t know any better. There’s tons on RV blogs about people being proud of finding “hacks” to allow them to accomplish this incredible feat of turning on a single room air conditioner with a mere 70 pound 2200 watt gasoline generator, because, impressively, they can fit such generators inside their vehicles. My friends, this Renogy 3000w inverter can power that absurd fossil of a cooling device with less than 75 pounds of batteries, and if you were reckless about cooling you could fit the whole shebang inside a regular army foot locker. Of course, you shouldn’t. It is really the wires more than any other part, but you need air circulation for cooling of the components. At full power, this thing draws nearly 250 amps of DC power and yes, that can melt the insulation on lesser wires. That side of the process is no joke. But the device itself is absolutely tough and will handle the absurd loads you may throw at it. The wiring is no joke. Renogy will tell you about fuses but most RV blogs are lax. You should put a separate 100a fuse on each battery, and you should have at least three batteries feeding this beast in parallel. 100a at 13v DC can absolutely start a heck of a fire so check and double check your wiring. But once you do, you can count on this component not to be the bottleneck in anything short of cooking thanksgiving dinner on a resistance range. Just use an induction top and an air fryer and you should be golden with this kit.

Works great!
Haven't had any issues, except one time it quit working when my battery were at 50%. Lifepo4 batteries, only a year old. Don't know if it's a batt problem, or what, but as soon as I charged them up it worked again no problem. Nice and quiet, and for a 3000w PURE sine wave, I think it's a good value for the money. I recommend a cut off in line from batt to inverter on positive line, with a method of precharging the capacitor or whatever that is.. watched a video and followed the video.. not sure what exactly I was doing, but this thing pulls a lot of power as soon as it is hooked to the battery, so it really should have a method of gently increasing power to the capacitor instead of dumping it all at once.

Runs my residential refrigerator in my RV
Took a trip to Yellowstone and was on the road for a month. We packed a ton of food in the fridge knowing that groceries are scarce and expensive in that area of the country. We had swapped out our absorption fridge for a residential fridge and needed a way to keep our fridge running while driving all day for a couple days in a row and while boondocking at overnight stops along the way. I replaced my marine deep-cycle battery with 2 Renogy AGM batteries and added this inverter. I then ran an extension cord to the back of the rig, up through the floor to behind the refridgerator. I then opened the rear vent panel on the rig to plug the fridge into the extension cord from the rig outlet. Turned on the inverter and had power to the fridge the whole time. When we were connected to shore power I turned off the inverter and plugged the fridge back into its normal outlet. Worked great and the frozen food stayed frozen! Easy to use and install and made with very good quality components (from what I could tell). Very happy with this purchase.

GFCI trips after 2 months of use
Worthless, tech support horrible, under warranty but will not replace/refund. Let me explain further… I purchased this inverter for an off-grid Solar charged battery bank to run my Starlink and wifi camera, along with a 7k btu window unit. This setup is located in the Atchafalaya Basin, Louisiana (think the TV show “swamp people” that’s where this camp is) in the “middle of nowhere”. The battery bank consists of (8) 100ah 12v Flooded Lead Acid batteries wired in parallel for a useable 400ah bank. Batteries are wired together properly with 2/0 gauge jumpers and connected to the inverter with 3’ 2/0 gauge pure copper cables. Battery bank is charged/maintained by two Renogy charge controllers (1) 40amp MPPT with (4) 100w panels connected 2x2 (2-200watt strings). The second Renogy Charge controller is a 60amp MPPT with 3x1 240 watt solar panels. Plenty of power for what I want, and yes I know I could get more with a 24v system… but I went with Renogy 12v… big Mistake!! Everything worked fine for about two months. The Starlink was on, camera working, and I was able to turn the Wifi AC window unit on during the day to dehumidify the camp. Then one morning everything turned off, which required a trip down and 30 minute boat ride to investigate. The yellow GFCI light was on. So I wired the AC unit to the load terminals that supposedly provide more power, flipped the switch back to on, tested (and it worked) and returned home. Next day it happened again. So I called Amazon (who was the most helpful during this fiasco). Amazon directed me to Renogy because I was outside the 30 day return window. Renogy advised I needed to ground the inverter and use 4/0 wires to the 3000watt inverter. Note there isn’t anything in the instructions that specify what cables are required/recommend. So I make the long haul again with 10AWG stranded insulated copper wire, 8 gauge pure copper wire, an 8’ grounding rod, and brass grounding connectors. I sink the rod about 20’ in the mud, run the 8awg solid copper wire into the camp, and ground the inverter using the recommended 10AWG insulated stranded copper wire. I make the connection to the inverter using 2’ 4/0 pure copper cables, test, (it works!), and I return home. Next day everything shuts down again. I called Amazon who put me though to Asurion (I bought the insurance), who routed me back to Renogy because it was still under manufacture warranty. Renogy asked if I had performed any multimeter tests, which I had for my own curiosity (not directed to do so by Renogy) and so I reported my test results… 13.8 v DC no load, 120 v AC no load. Renogy said they needed picture evidence. I asked if I they could save me another trip down and allow me to return/replace the inverter, and they said no, no, no. I asked several times because I felt they just kept making things up for me to-do and not honor their warranty. They said I could return it (but wouldn’t allow me to do so) and they could test it, and if they found nothing wrong they would charge me for testing and shipping. At this point I really don’t trust them to “test” the inverter and accept that there’s something wrong with it. I tell them they need to honor their warranty, they direct me back to Amazon. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS INVERTER!!! Save your TIME and MONEY and buy another brand!!

Exceeds Expectation
After installing 900ah of Lifepo4 batteries, I decided to try running the roof top 15k BTU AC in my motorhome with my old 3000W PSW inverter. The AC failed to start 2 out of 3 tries. When it did start the AC, it ran for less than 2 hours before it blew 2 of the MOSFET’s. I replaced it with this Renogy 3000W PSW inverter. It is one of the more pricey inverters on Amazon, but I am quite impressed. It’s larger and a bit heavier than my old inverter and seems to be of better build quality. It starts my AC (while running my fridge and all other AC devices in the MH) every single time without a soft start device installed. The cooling fans are also much quieter. Time will tell, but I’m very happy with the purchase.

Runs cool and handles a load
This was actually the third inverter I have tried for my trailer. It is connected to my solar system which uses three Litime 12V 230Ah Plus Low-Temp Protection LiFePO4 Batteries. The first two inverters would either over heat after a few hours with a light load or shut down because they detected low battery voltage. This Renogy 3000 W Inverter is getting the job done no problem. I have a 20 amp outlet wired to the N G L posts on the inverter and I have the entire trailer plugged into this outlet. To test it I have plugged the trailer in and turned on the refrigerator set to electric mode. I left it running on inverted power for two days. The inverter did get a little warm, but never shut down once. I know because I set the time on the microwave clock when I started and the correct time was still showing after two days and the freezer and refrigerator were both cold. Then to test it's higher output capabilities I cooked a bag of microwave popcorn in the trailer microwave. The popcorn popped at the same rate as it does in my home microwave. Then I turned off the refrigerator and turned on the air conditioner. I only let the AC run for three minutes because I did not want to run the batteries down completely. It started right up and was blowing cold air just like when plugged into a campsite with hook-ups. And after three minutes running the AC, the batteries still show 95% on the voltage meter so maybe I will try a longer AC test later.

Worth It
Bought one several yrs ago for my semi truck and so when I was in the market for another, this is what I came back too. The old still works great and I can run a microwave, mini refrigerator, and just about anything else I've needed in the truck. Very well worth the price in my opinion.

Lots of power
This 3000watt inverter came quickly and on time. It was well packaged and simple to install. I got it hooked up to 500AHR 12volt battery bank in my trailer and the thing ran my AC unit and my fridge!! Obviously wouldn't do that lomg term as batts would drain fast, but it is nice to know, when off grid we can make toast and brew coffee at the same time! Very happy with the unit... I have only just installed it so have not used it for any length of time yet, but so far, so good!
