Incomplete stories and harsh words used

When I read to my 3 years old son I have to use other words in some paragraphs.Words like "killed", "died", "children disappeared inside the cave and were never seen again", "the giant walked up to the bed and smashed it with a club", "they picked up heavy stones and smashed each other's heads!"This isn't very calming before going to sleep, or at all!The quality of the book is fine, but definitely the English needs a better writing.
