Valerian Super Calm, 1 Ounce

I've tried liquid valerian before for my children. One of my children has issues with anxiety not very often, so I like keeping this handy for him. It works great and he has no side effects, which is nice because all that happens is that the anxiety goes away. Another child has hyper tendencies, again not very often, but issues seem to arise when she needs to be calm and focus....(ie like school work!)so these drops really help in that area sometimes. They have no trouble with just 1 dropperful in a small glass of water. I also like the fact that this herb is not addictive. Even though my kids do not take this on a regular basis, I am thankful that this product is there for them when they do need help.

I purchased this product a long while ago out of concern for my 9 year old son who has had trouble falling and staying asleep since birth. He has sensory processing disorder, anxiety, and ADD. At age 5 we started using melatonin nightly and bedtime went from 2 hours battles and tears...to fifteen minutes and bliss! He would sleep then for several hours.then crawl in bed with u. Over the n last few years he has slowly started not staying asleep as long..waking after two hours and multiple times through the night since he has to sleep in his own bed. Hebhas a lot of anxiety at night. I saw this product and tried it at first during the daytime during an anxiety attack he was having when he was extremely emotional and could not calm down. I was impressed with how quickly he calmed down and was able to talk through his thoughts. I decided to try it on a particular night when he was having trouble falling asleep even with the melatonin. He slept for five hours! We have given it to him nightly for the past five nights and last night he slept all night!!!! Woke up calm and refreshed. I am amazed. I cannot remember the last time he slept all night. Nightwaking for him is the norm and not the occassional. His doctor is very aware of his sleep issues. I am an experienced nurse and was wanting to avoid strong prescriptive medications as long as we could. He has a new confidence as well since he is sleeping all night! I am planning to discuss this with our doctor next week..but am so thrilled he can get the benefit of the longer and deeper sleep! giving this 4 stars...have not taken it long-term yet so we'll see. No problem with taste. I have been giving herbal ecinachae drops since toddlerhood so they're used to the taste.

I bought for my 7 years old looking to replace the melatonin and to help his mind to calm down for a better sleep but it didn't work and the taste is terrible. I am taking it so it doesn't go to waste and this product irritates my throat so I agree with my son, this product is hard to take.

Working great for my son

First of I wanted to say that it did work like a charm for a couple of weeks for my son. But after awhile I think he got used to it and we were back to square one. So I stopped using it and only use it on occasion now when he has a very restless night and it does the trick then. The downside to this product is it smells and tastes awful and I had to mix it into some apple sauce for my son to even eat it. Other than that it can be a lifesaver if you have a restless child or a child that has trouble calming down at night.
