can the pressure be turned off? I just received it and the air pressure is uncomfortable for my mother.

The Problem/Solution, is the Airbags need to release some Pressure, They are Clamping way to Hard, and it is Painful, they are providing to much pressure. I took a sewing needle with the massager up by your face on a table, take out the liners, power up and start a massage, as the Airbags Inflate Poke a few holes into each of the two airbags, this will release some pressure, the key is to get it right where it is very comfortable for you. I put four Holes in each air bag that was enough but you can try it if to much pressure then add one more to each air bag, repeat until you have it the way you want it.

Can the cloth insets be taken out to wash?

Yes they can be washed and you can order replacements from Miko

How well does this do for small feet?

When you read the instructions, the first five times the machine is inflating to "find your feet" (so to speak). It does this from all angles, and after five times ... then the machine knows your foot. All subsequent massages are then great. It stands to reason that a small foot would not get massaged well if two are sharing the machine - as it's looking for the bigger foot if that was the foot the machine calibrated itself to massage.

Can you stand up while it's working?

No. You definitely have to be sitting while your feet are massaging. But this machine works very well. Love it!
