Prime-Line GD 52121 Tee Latching Handle, Diecast Zinc (Single Pack)

Im a female so I was scared I couldn't do this when my garage door handle broke. I was able to easily switch out. I had to use a tiny glasses bit and hammer to get the pin out. I did drop the pin in my old one twice and it took a while to find it but when I opened the bag with screws, there was a pin in there too. I made it harder than I had to lol

I bought this handle to replace the original handle that was worn out on my Clopay garage door. Fits as good or better than the original! I’m super happy!👍

The one that I replaced was basically falling apart. There is now a remarkable difference between this one and the other one. It is a dual garage. This one is very smooth and easy to open. The other one is not. I will probably down the road purchase another one to get the same smoothness. Installation is somewhat difficult. It is not the fault of the handle, but when you take off the old handle then be prepared to have a spring to deal with. You need to be on the inside to install it with the garage door closed. If it is a single door garage, then make sure you have another way out or have another person to help you with the outside work.

First, the quality and probable durability of this item are good. It turns out replacing your broken garage door handle is more complicated than you might think--no fault of the product. Some things to think about are that if your original outside handle had threaded sleeves for the bolts running on either side of the 516 inch square shaft, then the holes in your door are going to be too large for the screws sent with this handle. Second, you might want to look and see if the cable handling mechanism on the inside of your garage door will allow a 5/16 inch shaft to pass through it. Mine did not and it looks like the only way to get a replacement is to order a whole lock kit for around $30 so I am just going to have handles that don't unlatch the door for now. I have an automatic opener so that will be fine. Be aware that this product depends on the cable and latches you already have to lock your door. Using everything but baling wire and chewing gum, I was able to use the front and back of this handle and have it held firmly in place with the little pin that goes through the shaft and handle on the inside and a self-tapping garage door bolt I already had. The screws sent with this product may not be sufficient if your application isn't compatible. The handle comes with instructions including a picture on the back of the package which was the most help.

Could not find this T handle at the big reno stores but luckily found it on Amazon. Perfect fitment for my 17 year old door and fairly straightforward installation. Tip - have someone hold it from the outside while you install.
