WILL BUY Again. This worked impressively well when applied to ducks' bumblefoot. Positives: 1. Sticky as heck! It is a dark very thick & stickly. It works as it stays on the feet or wounds of outside animals. 2. Treated ducks quickly - it works! 3. Value ++ it treated 7 ducks with large amounts and only used 20% of package. Negative: 1. None. Just be careful as it is easily sticks to anything you touch and stays. It does washmachine out of clothing and towels - we know.

Great for the price, it is thinner consistency than other salves like prid but it is still very good especially for the price cant beat it. Got it for my chickens bumble foot and it works well and I have plenty left for emergencies

We haven’t tried it yet but my husband has a long history with ichthamol going back to the days spent with his dad in his pharmacy in Iran where it was commonly used for skin infections, boils and the like. I have heard that it is also a drawing salve that is great for splinters and slivers of glass too. While this product says it is for animals only, many reviewers here said they use it themselves. The ingredients are the same so I am not sure why it’s rated for animal use only. Maybe the manufacturing plant has not been approved for people products. I would not worry about this personally since people are using it and none have reported ill effects. And it is so much more affordable. It lasts forever in the medicine cabinet.

I have had a boil/abscess on my buttock for over 3 weeks now. I had a similar one about 1.5 yrs ago that did go away with hot bath soaks in Epsom salt. This boil has been relentless. After 2 weeks of no sign of it going away and feeling red hot to the touch and painful to sit, I finally saw my doctor and she put me on antibiotics. The antibiotics got rid of the heat from it but it still hurt to touch it. I finished taking my antibiotics for 7 days and about 24 hours after taking the last pill, it was all inflamed again like I never had the antibiotics. So in desperation, I saw online that ichthammol can help draw out the pus. I just got the product yesterday and put it on. Within 5 hours, it had opened up and a small amount of discharge was coming out of it. I put it on overnight with a band-aid to cover it. The redness has gone away and it no longer feels hot to the touch. It hasn’t completely drained. I can still feel the push under the skin. So far this is working though because this boil would not open and release before and now this ointment has done that. I imagine this might take a few days. I’ll update my results later. Update: I am not sure if this stuff works or my boil just went away on its own. I put this on it religiously the first 3 days, one application in the morning and one in the evening at bedtime. Then I eventually did it once a day, just before bed. I used it about 1 week. I noticed that within a few days it wasn’t red anymore and then it seemed to flatten and the tiny pimple like hole that had opened the first application of this salve, started to close up. It’s been about 2 weeks now and I can still see the skin is discolored like a bruise but it no longer hurts to sit down or when I touch it. When I press firmly, I can’t even feel the area below the skin that contained the pus like I could before. I am very happy with this product. It saved me a trip back to the doctor’s to have it sliced opened and drained. Highly recommend this!

I read the reviews and wanted to try this. This works incredibly well. A mosquito bite will itch me over a week, with small amount of this on a bandaid..next day...no more itching. I remove the bandaid. Now tick bites are terrible for me 2-3 weeks with a hard itchy knot. With this, a small amount on a bandaid, itching stopped within 3 days and no raised bump. For ticks I applied this twice a day. You can tell when you no longer need the medicine. Just really amazing, wish I knew about this long ago. I haven't had poison ivy this year so I haven't tried that. I do use spot bandaids usually because they seal all around the bite. This is a huge amount and great price!

The price for the size IS PHENOMENAL!! This product is a 14 ounce pot of 20% ichthammol. Everywhere else i searched is selling 10% ichthammol in 1 ounce tubes for $8.99!! This brand also HAS NO SCENT TO IT, which is MARKED IMPROVEMENT from the ichthammol available in 1970's that REEKED like crude oil! This is the first time trying this brand and Im never using another brand again!! THIS PURCHASE WAS AN AMAZING BARGAIN!!
