Great value, some tradeoffs, worth comparing with other units at this price range before you buy
Having spent some time listening to reviews of this, the Valeton GP200 and others, I initially went for the GP200, but found limitations in the effects configuration that didn't work for me. The MG30 fewer footswitches than the GP200 (note it does have an extra 2 switch breakout box) , the GP200 has more I/O flexibility and for live use would probably suit some better. The MG-30 has more flexibility in the routing of effects, including some parallel options and 3 mic positions for the IR cab section. The 3 scene options per patch make up for the reduced footswitch count. Both are excellent value for money, the MG30 has fewer models, but I'd rather have fewer excellent ones and more flexibility. Both lack a decent poly pitch shifter, my very old Johnson J station has dated in it's amp modelling, but did have a great pitch shifter. With these units, try before you buy if you can, it's hard to go wrong, but what works for you is going to be a personal thing, you can get great (and bad) sounds out of both. The MG30 has some deep options, but not everyone is going to want to spend time crafting patches. The unit is well made, the editing software is fairly quick and easy to get going. The drums are a bit naff, the GP200 has better, but still more useful than a metronome. Looper requires some mastering, but works well. USB routing is flexible, easy to jam along to your favourite YouTube tracks. Firmware update did take a while, I hope there are more updates in future that add more effects.

Superb, Versatile Modelling Pedal with great Software App
That range of sounds in this pedal are fantastic with everything you need to go ampless on gigs. The unit is well built and looks like it will take some punishment if regular gigging. The software for me is the best part of the package making it really simple to dial in any settings for the amo / cab / effects in your Mac or PC with a huge range of options. Like all pieces of kit you need to spend some time with it to get the best out of it but after playing around for a few hours, watching some YouTube guys you really get a feel of the software and how it adjusts the sounds. If you are looking for your first modelling pedal you can’t go wrong with the NUX and don’t thing this is a ‘home use toy’ because it is much more than that. You can easily do pro gigs with the MG30.

Nice sounding multi effects unit, for six string !
Nice interface, well built, only about three bass amplifiers & a smattering of effects, great for guitarists on a budget I would think.

The best guitar effects under £500
The sounds is absolutely reall. I tried many guitar effects under £300 and Nux mg 30 is the best so far. I didn't expect this much quality. I think this is a need for intermediate electric guitar player.

Good all round easy to use pedal
Bought this pedal as I joined a band playing rock covers and needed something simple to get the sounds I need. So far the pedal does the job and is very easy to use and setup up basic patches. Obviously there is a learning curve when setting up more advanced patches using the included footswitch. There are plenty of YouTube videos and a handy Facebook group were you can usually get the help you need if your stuck. Seems sturdy enough although, other users report the screen is very easy to break if something it dropped on it. I luckily haven't but had made a temporary Perspex screen protector to protect the screen,

Disappointing
I own quite a few Nux products. Most of them are top notch for the price. I think their headphone amps, in particular, are fantastic. This, however, is different. Straight out of the box the sounds aren’t great. They seem more noticeably artificial and betray their digital origins. The controls aren’t that intuitive either, which can be frustrating. I’ve loaded external ir’s, which others say improve the tones, but they haven’t impressed me. Maybe I picked the wrong ones? Possibly. Still, overall, I can’t say I’m anything other than disappointed.

Best presets ever
For years I have tried different multi effects units and not one of them has ever been as useful to me as the MG-30. My search for a unit with usable presets is over. I am not a computer programmer nor an expert in guitar effects - I have just wanted a unit that I could use out of the box and not one with outrageous sounding presets designed to show off its capabilities with unusable sounds. Don't get me wrong, there is ample opportunity to customize your sounds if you are so inclined. but now you have the choice to utilise sounds from guys who know what they are doing. Given that the unit has a looper and a drum machine and comes in at just over 200 pounds, this the MG-30 is a real game changer. Anyone want to buy a used HX Effects ??!!

Small intro: I am old musician, and I own quite a lot of gear (real amplifiers and modelers from Line 6, Zoom, Marshall, Vox, Peavey, custom made, BOSS - also pedals - yes love BOSS pedals). In case of different modelers, my biggest complain since always was: - noise - dynamics (not in terms of decibels, but the feeling yougot while playing - the was the unit reacts on your pick attack and articulation). I needed something cheap (affordable), small and light, and yet allowing me to enjoy playing. My wife (visual approach) told me - "try this, it looks cute, and it looks like my jewel box" (she meant brushed metal). I bought it, and I was blown away by the accuracy of response to pick/finger attack and the beautiful quietness in the background. I managed to mimic the sound of my old Marshall JCM 800 almost perfectly. And not only mimic, but mimic without the noise (sorry guys, I am allergic to noise and hum from my music gear). OK, as I could write a book about how it feels, when playing, I will try to summarize (more value for all you reading this, I believe). PROS - Price (insanely affordable quality) - Form (small factor, very lightweight, but robust - metal chassis) - Sound (yes, yes, and yes) - Marshall models are great, so are Fender models (I am less convinced with SLO-100, but I have it no more, so maybe my memory plays me here). Good, absolutely acceptable Impulse responses. Good set of additional effects. - Built-in looper and drum machine (I am using it rarely, but it's nice to have them) - Effects loop - AUX in - Headphones out - Included additional switch (so 5 switches in total, not 3) :-) - Built in expression/volume pedal - Good software for PC/Mac CONS Not really cons, if you consider the sound quality and price, but: - Effects loop only mono - AUX and headphones jacks 3,5 mm (I'd love them to be full size - 6,35 mm) - Expression/volume pedal is absolutely ugly limited (normally they go like 2-3 centimeters up/down, this one is maybe 1,5. It is hard to use it precisely) - No balanced outputs (I am simply using DI box) SUMMARY Worth every penny. For the first time I have a device that is very small and lightweight, but gives me the real possibility to use it (live, but possibly also in studio). I pimped my immediately with DI box (balanced output), pair of Headrush FRFR speakers (bought also on Amazon) and installed all on small pedalboard. If you looking for additional small and lightweight multieffect, or you are considering what to buy as your first one guitar gear, the NUX MG-30 is safe way to go. It sounds great and cost nothing. The ergonomics of this device is also perfect (the software for PC/Mac, and the way access to all parameters is provided at the device self is astonishingly well done). I will definitely keep it in my collection and use during rehearsals/small gigs.
