After using I have realised it's not pure cotton. It's mixed cotton. Didn't expect this.

These are so nice and will last a lifetime. Nice grade of muslin like my Grandmother used with no separation of fibers like regular gauze type cheesecloth. The hemmed edges prevent shredding strings that could get in cheese. Soaked in dawn for about 1 hour and rinsed several times to get all of the manufactured scent/color out of them and they are perfect! They could easily be bleached but no need for that as the water is clean and colorless the second time you use and wash them. Best to always boil between uses to keep sanitary and never wash with towels or other laundry that might leave hair or lint on them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

These are good, sturdy cheesecloths that serve their purpose well. I recommend them. However, they do smell terrible when they first come out of the package, which the package insert suggests they might. Boil them before using. As you can see from the photos I've included, they turn the water a slightly alarming shade of brown. (Whether it's a dye or a starch, or something else, I'm not sure.) But after boiling 15 minutes, rinsing thoroughly, and then hanging to dry, the smell was mild enough for me to use these cheesecloths for food prep.

This stuff is amazing! No matter how much I have had to wash rinse ring and hang dry it has not lost any of its quality or stretched! I have been using the first one in the package and have had no need to open a new cheese cloth yet because they first one cleans up so well drys out so nicely and still appears to still look as good as brand new! Definitely the best choice of cheese cloth I have ever purchased! Thankyou!

These cheesecloths are a very fine mesh and seem to be very well made, perfect for covering my kombucha. The hemmed edges are particularly nice, as there is no worry that the pieces will fall apart. The only thing to be made aware of is that these do carry an odor coming out of the packaging, so it would serve well to wash well prior to use. Other than that, looking forward to a lot of use.

An excellent purchase for the price and the quality you get with these cloths! I highly recommend them, you can strain liquids right through them without getting anything else through.
