do boxing shoes have a heel insert? thinking about getting a pair and putting a hard sole on them but not if the ankle is like a sock

I would say that they are not a super stiff heel, but not like a sock heel either.

I go to a regular gym, but they do have a heavy bag setup. Problem is it has a concrete floor. Anybody have experience with boots on concrete?

My son had the boots. Used them on a concrete floored bag area and in the ring. Jumped rope on concrete. He was always glad he had these shoes. If you move laterally they are what you need to use.

Would these be any good for deadlifting or squats?

Hi Mate - they're flat bottom which would be good for squats or deadlifts, but the heel and support of soft. I probably wouldn't use them for that purpose unless I didn't have anything else in my gym bag. I love them for boxing, skipping and to ring work however!
