LinkTap G1S Wireless Water Timer & Gateway - Smart Sprinkler Timer with App, Remote Irrigation for Garden, Weather Aware, Greater Range Than WiFi, Anti-Freeze Protection, 2 Year Battery Life, IP66

Right now I am using a four port programable timer for my back yard watering. They are good but I want better so I started looking at Amazon for other options I saw Bluetooth activated ones but their range is limited although I have a small back yard the water outlet timers would be in different locations and probably would not be reached from one stationary location. Then I came upon the Link Tap G1S which would be perfect for my needs, I purchased the timer and gateway. Here is where the fun comes it worked as advertised (big shock) first I set up the gateway which was the easiest I ever had with Wi-Fi equipment in a few minutes it was working and connected, my next step was to set up the water timer and in less than a Minuit it was connected, then I moved the water timer to every spot in my back yard that I will be placing one or more timers ran the connection test and all had passe the test with flying colors. I am in the process of buying 6 more over time as I get the water lines set up. FYI the gateway is the middle of my house and the timer furthest away is 45 feet through quite a few walls. Another great feature is I can program it to get my local weather report and will not water if it is raining or in the process of raining, saving me money. Another great feature is I will be placing a timer on my pool pump drain valve so when the real heavy rains come, I can drain the overflow without going out and getting soaked. The manufacturer is !00% in their advertising I can turn on the timer from anywhere with my phone. This Link Tap system is the best thing since sliced bread UPDATE 9-1-2022 You cant find a better product then the LINK TAP don't waste your money on other brand's. 1) It is a well made product. 2) The App is the best out there, easy to use , simple to follow and has not failed on me yet and I doubt if it will. 3) the support is excellent! I have contacted them ona few occasions and had an answer the next day that was spot on resolved the issue. Tap Link supports their product completely I did land up with a defective unit and their responce was "we are shipping you out a nre one" and you will have it in a few days. I wish all companies were like Tap Link.

First impression out of the box: Engineered. This product is not just another big name plastic box. Battery case (4 AA) is sealed with multiple screws, which are seated in metal threads. The valves are bigger than most, but have a very solid feel. This is a product that will last. Setup of gateway was easy. Be aware you do need a wired ethernet connection and power outlet for the gateway. I have mine hooked to a satellite on a mesh network. It connected out of the box through the online app with no problem. The valves connect wirelessly to the gateway. Mine sit between 20' to 70' away with no connection issues. Adding valves is a few simple buttons and scanning a QR code on your phone or mobile device. I purchased these for the flexibility in programming multiple valves. I run one as a misting system for multiple 1 minute intervals during the day, 2 for 2 day interval greenhouse watering, and 2 more for once a day garden drip system. All work flawlessly. Currently, we are going through a heatwave (2021) in PNW, US at 101+ F, and these have saved my garden plants. I can turn any of them on/off while at work for extra watering as needed using my phone remotely. There is a manual on/off button too on each valve. Each unit will text or email messages when they water. Watering schedules for each valve are easily added, deleted, activated/deactivated, or edited remotely from the app. These were exactly what I was looking for. The old Orbit timers are now sitting in the shed. Thank you Link-Tap.

I have been looking for a WiFi water valve I could operate remotely when necessary. Initially, I purchased a product from S___S, which never worked properly. I returned it. Next, I went back and looked at other similar products on Amazon. They have different names and even different packaging, but all used WiFi and what appears to be similar gateway software. I gave up trying to find a WiFi valve. Then I found this valve from "LinkTap", and it's not WiFi at all. Nor Bluetooth. It uses Zigbee, which is more secure, more reliable, longer range and has sophisticated capabilities. What a difference. The setup was simple. One QR scan for the gateway, one for the valve, and you're done. The range is better. I haven't tested the limit; it just always works. My gateway is in one corner of my concrete block house while the valve is outside, 60' away. It transmits correctly even when cell phones don't work. In the screenshot, you can see 2 red bars; the app tells me I may have limited connectivity. But it works. The user app is far better than the other one I tried. For example, when you turn on the water, the app makes the sound of running water for a second. Cool. A progress bar continually shows the time. Warning: you need to keep the gateway plugged into a port on your router, but I doubt this is much of a problem, since your water valve isn't going anywhere. The phone app is the key to remote control over the Internet anyway. If you need to continually move your gateway, or if you have some reason why the gateway can't be next to your router, then WiFi might be the only alternative. In summary, LinkTap seems far superior to the others. (P.S. the fittings don't leak either.)

This product is well designed & constructed. Linktap clearly has conducted VOC (Voice of Customer) during the development of this product as they seem to have thought of all common scenarios. It works very well, doesn't leak & it's so convenient to control & program directly from the phone app. I really like the rain delay feature that uses the weather forecast to determine whether to go ahead with a watering cycle after or before heavier rain fall. I thoroughly recommend the G1S. P.S. I bought the G1S as I didn't want the complication of the flow meter & a possible reduction in flow rate through it. I also didn't like the idea of the floppy cable plugging into the tap controller. Unnecessary week point for me, so went with the simple G1S.

The LinkTap products are very well made. I have owned smart tap controllers from other manufacturers before and none can compare to the quality, features, and ease of use. I bought a couple last minute before an extended overseas holiday and was surprised by how simple it was to install; not just the physical installation, but also the network and app setup. I was able to program different intervals remotely and use the app to check everything was working from the other side of the planet. The interval modes are well thought out giving the users the ability to select multiple modes such as every X day, specific days of the week, odd/even days, specific months, calendar mode, etc. There is documentation for adding it to Home Assistant but I found the app and interval modes were so well done that I was only using the LinkTap entities in Home Assistant to trigger other things in my home as I found the weather forecasting very reliable. Speaking of the forecasting element, the device can alter its run times depending on the temperature of the day. You are able to set high and low temperature limits and then a ratio of how much more or less the runtimes will be. There is even a setting for not watering at all under a set temperature. So much configurability. Have I been recommending this product to anyone who listens? Absolutely. I now have friends replacing the traditional timers on their irrigation systems based on how robust, configurable, and easy this is. Note: The pressure coming into the LinkTap in my garden was irrationally high, measured at over 120PSI (830kPa) where the average home in Australia would get about 43-72PSI (300-500kPa) and the LinkTap is rated for a maximum of 116PSI (800kPa). Considering the LinkTap has not exploded yet and still functions as expected speaks volumes to the quality of the product. I will be adding a pressure regulator upstream as soon as it gets delivered to protect the device and the sprinklers downstream. It is unlikely this would be a problem for others.
