Amazing blade! Not as pretty as advertised
The good: It's almost all good honestly. Let me start by saying Kershaw is a household brand to me. I love these little knives. They are hands down the best folding knives I've ever used. Incredibly solid feeling, extremely easily serviceable to the user, incredibly simple and easy to use and handle. Fits incredibly well in the hand, even with big hands, and they always come sharper than most knives I have ever owned. The tip of the blade is the finest useable point in my opinion possible, but this is not a pry bar kind of blade like a cheap walmart tool. The bad: I should just say "the disappointing" really, because the blade is perfect, functionally. The bad is that the advertisement makes it look like it has an almost orange/bronze bright outline to the graphic on the blade which, to me, was a big unique aesthetic to a blade I would have honestly just bought the most standard brushed finish possible to be practical. I pulled the trigger on this fancier looking design and it honestly just looks like a stain on the blade. It is not as flashy or contrasted as the images in the ad look, so I included pictures of the real thing in my review. Don't get me wrong, I love this knife and I won't be returning it unless something cracks or breaks on it. I just would have purchased a "less pretty" color choice if I knew the pretty color choice was such a let down! Still gets 5 stars from me though, the look isn't enough to make me dislike it.

Favorite knife I've ever owned except the Shallot.
My first love was a Kershaw Shallot, and I adored it. When I lost that one, I switched to the Leek as the Shallot had been discontinued. This is my second Leek - lost that one, too. Must be fate, as the only knives I've ever lost are the two Kershaws ๐ญ I will probably always own a Kershaw onion of some sort - they're my favorite knives I've ever owned. 1. Slimmest, lightest knife I've ever carried. It disappears into your pocket like a dream and doesn't attract a ton of attention, which is nice when you don't necessarily want to have Knife Conversations with every guy you meet. 2. Excellent assisted open. It's addictive. I get such a quiet joy from using this knife, no matter how often I use it. Every box I get to open with it is a little gift. 3. I find the D2 steel rarely needs touched up, but it's not terribly difficult to sharpen, either. A nice balance between the two. 4. Fits wonderfully in the hand and is comfortable to use for precision work. The tip is very fine and great for delicate tasks. 5. Classy knife, in my estimation . It isn't *Tactical*, just a sleek-looking tool that does what it's supposed to do and doesn't take up any more space or attention than it needs to. 6. I've never needed to send my knife in for a blade replacement and I do my own sharpening, but Kershaw's lifetime services are very nice and definitely worthwhile. 7. Effortlessly serviced and maintained by yourself. 8. The blade lock is nice, but easily removed if you dislike it. I did remove mine because I found it just added one extra step, and it never opened in my pocket. I suppose they're not for everyone, but the Leek just ticks every box for me.

Fantastic EDC knife!!!
This is a great knife! After using it for a couple months now, I understand why it was so much more than the standard Leek. If I was using the standard Leek with the stainless steel blade, I definitely would have had to sharpen it by know. My knife is still very sharp and has incredible edge retention! The D2 edge is absolutely amazing! I've been cutting some pretty thick stuff (Lots of thick plastic strapping). The only thing I would watch out for is the tip. It's very fine and could potentially break off with sufficient side-to-side force. You don't have to worry about piercing things, only prying. I've also noticed that the rust resistance has been way better than I expected, probably because of the Blackwash finish. I've cut several oranges with it, wiped it off, and I don't see a speck of rust anywhere. The Speedsafe assisted opening mechanism work wonderfully. Flicks out at the speed of light and takes little effort. The flipper isn't sticking way out, so you shouldn't have to worry about unwanted deployment. The knife comes with a sliding lock, but I've never had to use it. I always leave it unlocked and it will not deploy unless you are doing something truly ridiculous haha. This truly is worth every penny in my book, and it is worth paying the extra ~$30 for this model, as it will serve as a better knife (and it looks awesome!). If you are looking for a great-performing, great-looking knife that will serve you everyday and that you can depend on, do yourself a favor and pick this up!

Sleek leek
This is my first Kershaw knife. To my knowledge, no other knife companies have tried conjoining metals like this to make a crazy looking knife blade. I suggest viewing and photographing this model in natural light. It can be difficult to distinguish the two metals apart unless in the right light or at the right angle. The first one of these I ordered/received, I sent back for a replacement by mistake because of the above statement. Mistakenly it looked to be a solid stonewashed D2 blade and not a bimetal composite, I couldn't see a difference or variation but, I believe the stonewash finish may have made it look all the same possibly or I missed seeing all together...!? Anyhow the second one was much more immediately noticable that there were two separate metals conjoined but, the red line wasn't so apparent until I viewed it in the sun lightvand now that I know it's there I see it every time. Shipping was very quick for the first one and the replacement as well as the return process being painless at Kohl's. The Kershaw leek is very slim, durable, comfortable in & out of the pocket, in hand and easy to operate with a nice assisted opening operation, and astetically pleasing with the stonewashed finish, not to mention the sick composite blade. I had to adjust the blade lock on mine as it wasn't staying closed/locked when removing it from my pocket, it was sliding open to easily, so a slight adjustment was needed for proper smooth operation with the locking mechanism. I am pleased with the Kershaw leek and proud to add it to my diverse and fastly growing collection of other high end folders and fixed blade knives. I ordered the dividend model also and can't wait to get it and compare the two. I am extremely displeased and very much angry to just now learn on 5/31/21 that my order was cancelled for the dividend model ordered from Bob Wards on Amazon on 5/26/21, due to out of stock, although Amazon's site said there were 5 left when I ordered. I'm not happy at all, especially after just writing in the review that I ordered it and couldn't wait to compare them.!? Very sad! Very bad business.

Great Knife
I already had a Leek in stainless, but lost it. This knife is great, the finish is very durable, and it is way sharper than your average $50 pocket knife. The composite blade is not nearly as visible or visually attractive on mine as it is in the photos, which is a little disappointing, but not a deal breaker. At a certain angle, the line is barely visible, but there is no distinct brass line from the brazing. Regardless, the D2 edge has been holding up great, it was sharper than my other leek out of the box, and is still very sharp after cutting cardboard and opening boxes for a month or so. I carry and work with it every day, and even open beer bottles with the handle, and there isn't a mark on it. My stainless leek was the same way.

My favorite for EDC
This is the 4th Leek Iโve purchased and used for every day carry. The first 2 I eventually lost and the 3rd I abused and broke the blade tip, but it wasnโt the knifeโs fault. I love them for the slim profile while in the pocket and also the thin fine pointed blade for small detail work. This latest one with the D2 composite blade has a superior cutting edge, and better edge retention compared to the standard blade models. The San Mai look is really cool too! I believe the composite blade is stronger than the regular blade also, but I still wouldnโt recommend using it to pry very hard on anything. If you need a knife for that purpose Iโd probably find a different model. Next time I need to pry that hard on something Iโll get the appropriate tool! But for me and my use at work and in general itโs perfect, and it carries great in the pocket!

the quality really shows when you see it in person
There are a few varieties of this model pocket knife, but I chose this one for its appearance (with the brazed blade and blackwash finish) and size. It is the first new pocket knife I have picked out for myself in a very long time. I wanted something that fit easily in my pocket and was small enough to be convenient to carry, but also large enough that I could handle it easily without feeling clumsy with it. Every new Kershaw knife I have ever seen comes out of the box razor sharp, including this one, so I appreciate that the ergonomics of it are very good for a small knife. The flipper action works great and makes it easy to deploy when you need it. Overall, it is a really nice looking knife, but it is small with a thin blade, so I wouldn't ever deliberately use it hard. It is too elegant for that, even if the blackwash finish makes it look like an ancient tool out of your grandfather's workshop.
