Buy these by the dozen
I pretty much have one of these for every firearm I own, at this point. They're awesome. Simple, cheap, functional.

Fits 44 mag, slips on like a glove, but a little bit loose on a short-height buttstock
Bought this for a Rossi R92 lever action rifle. It holds 9 rounds of .44 rem mag perfectly snug, but the rounds aren't long enough to poke all the way through; they only fit about halfway - assuming you leave enough room to actually grab the end of a round. So, for a .44 cartridge, you really can only grab them from one side, you can't easily push them from the other side. Assume you were maneuvering, I don't think a thick .44 round can slip out easily, even though it's not completely secured all the way through. (I assume this shell holder is meant more for typical rifle cartridges like 223/556, 30-30, 308, etc - which would allow you to remove the round by pushing the bullet-side and enabling more purchase on the primer side) The lever gun I put it on has a pretty small buttstock in terms of height. So, it fits kind of loose, but stays on if you position it closer to the very end of the buttstock, where it's thickest. I have not fired with it yet, but I suspect that it might easily shift around the smooth buttstock. It obviously wouldn't fall off during fire, cuz your shoulder will block it from slipping off. I DO think, if you were maneuvering, that it could easily fall off if it got caught on something. That being said, it fits snuggly and tight on your typical bolt-actions, like a Savage Axis. In my limited experience with lever guns, their buttstocks are pretty short in height, so just beware - this shell holder "fits" a lever gun - but it's about as snug as putting a wet t-shirt on. All-in-all, for the price, this is a great solution for holding 9 rounds.

Allen Elastic Buttstock Shell Holder Black for Rifles, One Size
These are well constructed and are easily installed on most rifle stocks, I have installed several on various rifles. Depending upon the presence of a sling attachment stud, you may find it necessary to make a small incision along the bottom edge to allow the stud to protrude through the shell holder, which I have done easily with a razor blade. The loops hold the cartridges securely and readily available to the shooter for a quick reload.

Awesome seller-worth the 50 cents
Ordered two of these from a different seller for .50 less. Initial delivery estimate was about 4 weeks out. At about that time, got an updated estimate. Gonna be another 10 days. Needed them sooner for a hunt. Went with this seller and they arrived the next day. Well worth the 50 cents each. Knocked down for adhesion. These just slide around on most gun stocks. I put a dab of silicone under each end of the shell holder to stop that and it can be removed with no damage to the stock. The other thing I do. With these being rectangle shape to make them usable on left or right handed guns. And left this way, you have slop at the barrel end of the shell holder. I turn them inside out and re-sew them tapering them to match the angle of my stock. Makes for a much cleaner fit. I also prefer the Allen brand because the material is more rigid than other brands. Those other flexible ones seem to stretch out faster causing me to loose shells.

Perfect product for holding extra ammo.
It’s very well made and fits perfectly. I had to cut a very small hole in it so my sling mount nub would go through. Except for this very small modification, I’ve been super happy with it. I would highly recommend this product.

Fit and finish not as previously reviewed.
I was excited to receive this product as it meant simplicity and ease of accessibility to extra rounds. Upon receiving the product it was difficult to install and once put on the stock of my Marlin model 336 it was very well fit at the rear as it stretched to size. While at the front it is loose therefore it kept slipping forward and made the product nearly useless in a hunting or tactical sense. Without proper modification by someone who is well versed in sewing stretchable nylon this product was more of an idea than it was an actual fact.
