This is the best beginning to go in gloomhaven

An absolute masterpiece, a must-have
I won't be verbose enough to describe how well tied together this game is, please make a google search and see for yourselves. It's a comfortable and exciting mix between standard board games framed with simple rules and creativity sandbox RPG such as Dungeons&Dragons. The tutorial with gradual implementation of rules in increasing difficulty scenarii is genius-like, the variety in cards, ennemies, loot, and the sheer amount of scenarii to play make it a long-lasting, breathtaking masterpiece of a game.

Different folks different strokes I guess. I preferred Bloodborne the board game in terms of fighting with decks.

Give it a go! You won’t regret it!
We just finished Jaws of the Lion and are so in love with the franchise that we jumped right in to Frosthaven. For anyone looking to play Frosthaven or Gloomhaven, this is your starting point! Starting Frosthaven having not played JotL would have been incredibly confusing. Treat JotL as a full tutorial for the bigger games or as an inexpensive way to try out the franchise. The amount of game you get for the money here is incredible! We played every week for about four months to knock the full campaign out. The components are well made and durable and the characters are all so different in how they play. We love how they are not structured like stereotypical tank/DPS/healer builds. While some are clearly better at certain things than others, you can play even the “healer” as a front line fighter or ranged damage dealer if you’d like. While this gaming system is not for everyone, I would highly recommend it for anyone who is into board games. It’s not that much of a commitment if you have a steady group and you’ll be able to say that you’ve played one of a series of world class games.
