I found this quite well made, you have to slide apart to expand, it holds very very solid to the vent. I was concerned based on other comments, but very glad I followed by gut. I will be purchasing more for other rooms.

Lasted 5 min. Be sure your vent isn't very hot.

These do what they say - deflect the air from the vents. The are very sturdy and the magnets are strong so they stay in place. I'm not sure about the filter. It's just hard plastic, so my assumption is that it will keep larger particles from being blown into the room, but I don't think it actually 'filters' the air. If needed, a real filter could be installed in the vent, or perhaps even laid on top of the provided plastic filter.
