You read all the reviews and they range from great stuff down to crappy stuff. Who do you believe?

I'd read that to mean that its a crap shoot and the draw of luck. The assortment that I got was pretty good, no complaints at all but I wholeheartedly believe that they grab what's available. So you may get knots, splits, poor grain patterns, etc. Or you may get highly figured, knot free, clean pieces. I highly doubt that they are picking through the pile to find the worst or the best ones to send. You get what you get.

How big are the boards?

The boards are either 15/16" or 3/4" thick x 11-3/4" long. The width varies by species- as an example Poplar may be up to 11-1/4", Hard Maple is generally 3-1/2" and Red Oak can be up to 7-1/4" depending upon availability of the lumber.

Will there be any cracks or knots in this?

I just got my box today and two boards were cracked - one looked like it’d been dropped as the corner was crushed, and the other has a notch from a saw and the crack starts there. No knots in any.
