Question 1

How sharp are the blades? Most drmatting tools claim to be sharp but end up being dull like a butter knife.

I was using a pet rake before this, and these blades are sharp.  I have a super long haired cat and the mattes come right out.  Since I have been using this tool he doesn't get big mattes because it gets the underneath hair that normally mattes.

Question 2

How to put this?  Can you trim mats from around a cat's "nether regions" with this tool?

Thanks for asking DBA Susy! Being very careful this can help break up mild to moderate matting in your cats sensitive areas. If the matting is severe we agree with Catlyn that it would be best to shave the area for a fresh start. If you don't feel comfortable doing this at home have it done by a professional cat groomer or your veterinarian. Does this help?

Hello Kari,In a word.....YESAs dematting takes and combs go this is as good as any I have ever used.It is adjustable for all coats and should be used weekly or as needed.

Does this have replacable blades?

I don't believe so.  If you yank on your pet's fur hard enough to bend any blades, you deserve to get mauled!  Just kidding.  These are very sturdy blades, and unless you ran over the tool with your car, I don't know how you could accidentally damage them.  And if someone managed to bend a blade, you can probably get it back where it belongs with needle nose pliers.  Just guessing, of course.  I don't see the blades ever getting damaged in normal use; they're way tougher than a pet's ability to resist having fur pulled out that hard!  In fact, I prefer this brand to another one I own because it's narrower and therefore doesn't pull as much hair.  Hope that helps.
