What is the strength of the magnet?

I think the magnet is very strong. I usually carry about 6 bills and fold in thirds (personal preference) which makes the bills 18 layers deep with no problems. Side notes... I carry it in my front pocket by itself so it doesn't get hung up on anything that could pull it open like keys, etc. And I also recommend getting one without the plastic window. To me that creates a potential weakness. Plastic windows never last. Most times, if asked, you have to pull out your ID anyway so there is no advantage to having one.

How many cards will this hold? I know it has six slots, but is it big enough for more than one card in each slot?

You probably could squeeze in more than one card into one or two slots, but it would be very difficult to extract them. I have a couple of "card" cards (not plastic credit cards) in a couple of them, but I have to really work to get ANY card out. Of course, that's not all bad - you're not going to lose any accidentally. When I know I am going to use a card (like going into a restaurant or store) I sometimes take the card out before I need it.
