Works as it is supposed to - just plugged it into the front panel microphone jack and it auto-started the calibration app. Receiver Onkyo TX-NR686. Whole process takes about 10 minutes (more or less). It's not very loud - just a series of white noises played from speakers (well, the sub might be a bit loud) - I'm saying this so that you know that it can be used even at night. In my case it adjusted a bit the frequencies for the speakers and told me to close the menu. That's it. :-) PS: have not heard that much of a difference - but then again, I don't have the best ears and will try to play later some favorite music to see if I sense any improvement.

I've owned a few receivers in my days and they all had this exact microphone and every time I upgraded the receiver that microphone got sold with the old one however I moved across the country and misplaced this microphone and was happy to see that this one was priced about 60% cheaper than the others but with a little bit more wait time and I used it and it worked well in my 5.1 system with small Bose satellites and a 10-in poke subwoofer now sounds great!

Works great but be prepared to tape it or weigh it down because the attached cable makes it go all over the place.

I need a replacement after two of my mics died. I had one from my old Marantz 7705 and my latest upgrade AV10, both came with the same model # Mic...I was curious to why they were dying...then figured it out. Here's a tip, discharge yourself on a grounded metal surface before plugging in the mic...I noticed a static shock when I plugged in the Mic both times before I noticed the Mics did not work. Marantz is sending me another mic also, but they are on back order, so thanks to them for taking care of their customers. I just purchased the B&W 805D4s, so and moved some speakers around so needed to to a recalibration so needed the Mic asap.
