A quality designed case
This review is my first impressions of this case. Compact to carry with easy to use latches. I found the grid cut foam to be used to make a cut out for my pistol to be inventive and easy to use to make a fit for my pistol not some generic cutout. IMO if you only had one pistol, the grid could be used to make cutouts for 2 or 3 magazines too. Otherwise they could be foam protected on flat foam under the gun foam. From first impressions this will be a large step up from what I am currently using to transport my pistol. Update 7/15/21 After doing the pluck thing to make a cut out for my pistol, I would recommend the manufacturer use a higher density foam for this layer. And some better directions that make it plain the included tool can be used to help cut out the foam. Other than I have a sightly larger cutout than I wanted, the foam works ok. I put the unloaded plastic indicator that came with my Shield Plus into one of the slits so I can find it if needed. Then just lay the spare magazine on the top of the pick and pluck foam and close the case. So far works fine. I think with some care two compact pistols like the Shield Plus could fit in this one case. The extra foam layers supplied help cushion the pistol fine and I store the Shield manual and the case included tool between the middle and bottom foam layers. The slide locks work really easy too. If traveling with the case via plane I would suggest two high quality cable locks be used in the supplied holes in the slide locks. I have no recommendations for locks. IMO this is a good case and should last years of going to the range. Looks a lot more professional than pulling out the cardboard box my Shield Plus came in.

Measurements on the description were a 1/2" off
I knew I needed a certain measurement. It said it was 12" inside but it was just almost 12" on the outside. Then the case wouldn't close at first. I discovered an extra piece of foam inside and then it closed. It seemed a bit narrow width wise for a large revolver and it fit crosswise. I had picked up locks locally, I wish they had made a suggestions about the size I needed to go through the whole. The latches that keep the case closed were very sturdy. I was impressed with that. I ordered a new set of locks that will come tomorrow. The case seems sturdy. So once I got it closed I was happy. I feel It will serve my purposes. I was frustrated about the measurements on Amazon. It was the second one I ordered and I thought initially Oh No I need to return this one too? When I thought it wasn't going to fit, I reacted. Then, I took a deep breath and paid closer attention and all was good. I would suggest the mfg show larger revolvers and the model inside the case so you can get an accurate idea of what will fit. I am happy with my purchase.

This case works very well for airline travel.
Purchased this case specifically to carry a handgun from Arizona to home in Texas on an airline flight. It worked very well. Delivered within 24 hours. Once I received it, I fitted it to my handgun. The case came with several layers of foam rubber and can easily be adapted to the specific gun. It is not the heaviest material you can find on the market but is light weight. since the airline prefers that you carry the unloaded firearm (no ammunition in the locked case) inside your checked bag, the light weight and small size is a plus. I placed two locks on the gun case as it is capable of having two locks. The case worked extremely well for my purpose. In fact, I am considering purchasing one more for another gun in my possession. Quick note on carrying a firearm by commercial carrier as the airline web page will refer you to tsa.gov for specific instructions. The gun must be unloaded and no ammunition can be transported in the case. I put the live ammunition in a hard plastic ammo case typically used by folks who reload. Factory ammo boxes are ok. The folks at American Airlines were at first not sure my ammo case was appropriate. She quickly received the ok from her manager but told me where the Phoenix police office is and said they may have a box I could use. I packed my ammunition in another checked bag totally away from the bag containing the weapon. American Airlines had me sign a form with my certification that the weapon was not loaded. The Customer Service Agent then took me over to the TSA. TSA requested my keys to the locks on the case (they do not have to be TSA locks. I use brass locks I purchased with the case from Amazon). The TSA opened the case, verified the weapon no loaded and in a safe condition, relocked the case (all in my view) and handed the locked case and keys back to me. I placed the locked case back in the bag and the agent from American Airlines took it from there. Understand that the weapon, even though in a locked case, can not be in a โcarry onโ nor can the ammo be in a โcarry onโ bag. They must be in checked bags only.

Nice case for the price - choose the right lock
Aug 2020 update: This was brought to my attention last week - make sure your lock doesnโt allow the case to be opened from the side. I had a luggage lock on one side and one could still open the case from the opposite side (see photos). I moved the lock to the handle to see if that worked better, and it did, as long as the lock was in the middle of the handle. No gripes with the case though, it has held up well these past four years. Just make sure you choose the appropriate lock (or two). Original 2016 review: The case is sturdy and it was easy to remove the foam to the desired shape. Note that this case only comes with two layers of foam - the egg crate layer for the top and the pick & pluck layer for the bottom. I ended up trimming the foam down instead of fully removing the blocks so the contents wouldn't touch the bottom of the case. I asked the seller if they would include a separate bottom layer in the future, and they said they would discuss it with the factory and try to include it in next year's update. I gave the product five stars because the seller was very quick to respond to my messages and they assisted in every way possible. I'm truly satisfied with my purchase and hope the case lasts for years to come.
