Skechers Men's Work Hartan Steel Toe Slip-On Shoes

I love these shoes; they are the best steel toed shoes I've owned. They're comfortable, easy to get in and out of and perfect for the office. One word of caution - if you are between 2 sizes, get the larger size. I originally purchased these in a size 10.5, which is my normal size. They fit fine for the first week, but the longer I wore them the more my feet were driven forward into the toe of the shoe. This caused my toes to push into the steel toe as I walked, and it didn't feel good at all. At that point it occurred to me that steel doesn't stretch! I figured that my normal size 10.5 shoes stretch to fit my feet over time. I then purchased a size 11, and they've felt fine after wearing them for over 2 weeks. I just wish these were made in the USA, but other than that I have no complaints.

I go through work shoes every few years, some a little less long. I've used Sketchers before and they seemed to last the longest. A work shoe has to be durable & comfortable to me. I prefer slip ons for quick change in case I have to run into the house for something so as not to soil up the floors (which my wife appreciates). This shoe has performed well and the steel toe comes in very handy because I'm prone to drop heavy things and it's great protection for my feet. It's also snazzy looking. My only minor complaint is the deep grooved sole. If you've ever stepped in pine sap, you'll know what a bear it is to scrape out! Otherwise, it's a great shoe.

I wear these shoes hard. I sell industrial shelving and it is easy for things to fall on your toes. These protect them. I generally wear a size 12, but found that size 12 in these shoes was too small. Size 13 fit just fine. I have been wearing these shoes nearly every workday for the past 8 months or so and they have held up very well. I am satisfied with the fit and durability of these shoes. The price on Amazon is very competitive. It's been about a year since I bought these and this is an update - after a year of use these shoes have seen much better days - they no longer fit as well as they did and are no longer as comfortable as they were. The stitching is coming loose and the shoes are literally falling apart. It it worth buying another pair ? If I look at it and say they provided me with a nice pair of steel toed shoes for a year then they cost me $7.00 a month. I don't think that is too bad. UPDATE- I bought a second pair of these shoes after the first pair fell apart. The second pair did not last 4 months. These are very comfortable shoes when you first get them, but they do not last very long. I wish they would make them a little sturdier and longer lasting. I don't think I will be buying another pair.

These shoes are absolutely amazing! I spend anywhere from 8 to 14 hours per shift literally running around a warehouse, and since buying these shoes there's less swelling in my feet and ankles. They're the softest shoes I've ever worn in the workplace. They have better than decent ankle support and being styled like loafer, they're super easy to slip in and out of. Their sizes run slightly bigger than the sizes I'm used to. So my feet tend to slide back and forward depending on what I'm doing. Other than that, there's no real issue with them. They appear to be pretty durable. I've been wearing them for 3 weeks now and no signs of damage other than a few scratches. I work in a sheet metal plant, so the scratches are expected. I will definitely be looking forward to buying them again.

Context: I'm now primarily in the office but need steel toes for visits to the shop or project sites. I wanted steel toes that would take up less space in my carry on when traveling to job sites, and I have to say, after wearing these around the office for a few days, I think are good enough to wear on the plane. Not sure what to expect at the security check - I expect even with Pre-Check, I'll need to take them off. They are far more comfortable than I expected and are fine for everyday use (comfort-wise). I noted several poor reviews related to the durability, but I don't have any illusions that these would replace my full leather boots for every day laboring. I would not recommend these for laboring - even if they did last longer. They are slip on - not safe in the field, and they offer no ankle support or protection. So evaluate your needs and expectations before buying these. They are perfect for what I want. They are tight to get on, as others have noted, but I don't need a shoe horn as others have needed. But I've found after a few days of breaking in, I can now slip them on with out any assistance from my hands. They are still a little tight across the top of my foot, but either they are stretching, or my foot is getting used to the fit - it's getting better. It's also worth mentioning that I use a standing desk and I've had no problem standing for 8+ hours a day in them. Glad I found these.

After I started overnights at a warehouse job in '21, I quickly found myself aching by the end of each shift and in need of a new shoe that would offer proper support for 8 hours of freight hauling across concrete floors. At that time, I found this slip-on offering by Skechers at a local retailer. These met all my sizing and comfort requirements, provided good traction, and offered a steel toe that I often forcefully and inadvertently banged into palettes with no consequence; that steel toe also gave me the ability to easily handle heavy boxes by wedging my shoe underneath a bottom edge to give myself 3 points of contact for lifting. These shoes did just the trick I needed, and lasted me the duration of the job, though were showing signs of wear by the end (about 4 months). A year or so later, and pleased by my prior experience, I decided to get a new pair to aid my job prospects, and to my chagrin, could not find any at local retailers, including a dedicated Skechers outlet. A search on the Skechers website at the time also turned up empty. I wound up finding the exact same model here on amazon, and ordered another pair a half-size down to accommodate some lost weight as well as more casual wear, as I had chosen a deliberately oversized pair before in order to allow room for two pairs of socks (and thus, extra cushion). As the oversized pair had worn out, the amount of slack in them had gotten to be problematic even with extra socks on, giving uncertain purchase on the floor and developing a proclivity for ankle rolling. This new pair was more snug, though definitely not uncomfortably so, and offered better stability, but began to wear out faster than the ones I owned prior. Within probably two months, the stitching around the exterior of the toe cap began to rip out, making them much less useful during a round of job interviews I had coming up, and which had not happened to the older pair even after being used on the job and later beat up at home doing yard work. Like the old pair, these new ones also demonstrated a tendency to roll the ankle, as I found using them outside in uneven terrain. I suspect these issues I encountered contributed to their scarcity at the retailers in town, and I will not likely be getting another pair of them for the cost and low lifespan unfortunately. While they do offer a good deal of convenience and job-site versatility for a slip-on shoe, I think the slip-on design's elasticity and lack of ankle support works against other features of the design, such as the high-traction tread and front-heaviness of the steel toe; while lighter than a typical boot, these shoes tend to put their weight on the top of your foot instead of anchoring to the leg, which can sometimes start to wear on the ligaments after a long fatigued day. To summarize, you'll get a lot of comfort out of these shoes for the first couple months probably, but they'll be in line for replacement soon after, and won't be able to substitute for a full-on steel-toed boot or even lace-up shoe in terms of ruggedness and stability.

I bought these because I wanted a steel toe work shoe that was a slip on (no laces). I've been using them for 9 months and absolutely love these work shoes. The steel toe is so well placed that you can't even feel that it's there. They fit really well and are very comfortable to wear while working. The bottoms provide great traction on all surfaces. The outside toe area has a textured, stitched in pad that takes the wear when you're on your knees and the toes are rubbing on the ground. Works very well. The sides have an elastic bridge that allows you to pull on the heel to allow more room to put the shoe on. This is a great feature as it eliminates the need for a shoe horn. Sketchers shoes continue to be my preference for quality and comfort.

I’ve worn these less than a month, and though they are relatively comfortable and of decent weight, the stitching on the toes of each shoe have worn off and the rubber is peeling down. I have not been working on my knees, meaning my toe tops would rub on the ground, nor do I do any kicking with these shoes on. I have only executed light chores outside and in the barn in these shoes. Nothing very strenuous or dirty. Have a look at the photo I’ve attached of the toe. These shoes seem of great quality out of the box and brand new, I initially thought these would go the distance. In my opinion, this is where most of the great reviews of this shoe on amazon come from. But, as far as actual use is concerned, the toes could not stand up to even the lightest of yard chores. Update: After one more week of use I felt the need to update this review with another photo of the continued degradation. I've been doing the same chores I've done in many other work shoes/boots without this issue. As you can see, the leather is in normal condition, The problem is the thin stretchy rubber that is stitched at the toe. I'm curious as to what sketchers R&D department was thinking when wrapping the toe in this thin rubber instead of bringing the leather all the way down to the sole. Again, this last photo is only after 4 weeks of everyday chores around the house. I was hoping to break these shoes in at home, and then really use them at work over the next month, but they clearly could not survived the month at home. They would never have survived a month at work, and what good is a work shoe if it cannot stand up to work?
