Would these work for the 3ds XL?

They work on it but they don't fit in the slot for the pen correctly

Yes, but it doesn't go all the way in, sticks out a wee bit, very snug.

Is this compatible with the original model 3DS? I really am trying to avoid buying different sets of styluses.

Technically, it fits but it's tight and the tip hangs out.
