Review: Easy read, valuable topic to learn to be a better listener - It's a very easy read and an enlightening perspective. Probably the biggest challenge you'll find in this book is differentiating between validation and agreeing with someone. They are not the same. The book is fairly short, and gets to the point, and repeats the points without being overbearing. The concepts in this book can help anyone be a better listener and communicator. Review: One step forward. - Simply helpful. Some very strong key points Iโve stowed away in my Memory. Great audiobook

Helpful Read! It opened my eyes to a lot.
Within a few pages, I realized that I didn't understand much about validation. It's a much deeper concept than we realize. This was one of those reads that made me realize, I have a lot more work to do. I've been living in a blind spot for sure. Great read. It's a must read.

This book WILL improve your relationships if you follow its guidance.
This book has taught me things about communicating with others that I never learned before. Patrick puts things in a way that is understandable, which other similar books do not, at least not for me. I wore out a highlighter on this small book, highlighting gems like this: "We can offer understanding, respect and consideration all without ever changing our opinion or theirs". All too often we tend to make sure the other person knows our opinion without acknowledging their right to their own. I've only had the book less than a week, and it has already had a profound effect on my most intimate relationship. I think that it all comes down to being a kinder, more loving human being. The world needs that now, more than ever. I have both the printed book and the audible, and I prefer the printed book. The narrator has a wonderful speaking voice, but the way he speaks sometimes seems rushed, plus, there is a Summary Guide at the end of the printed book that is omitted from the audible version. It would have been nice to have that included. Buy the book, read it, highlight the heck out of it, practice becoming a better person. Your relationships will improve. It is worth the effort.

Great for couples and parents
Both my husband and I read this book and found it valuable. Some of the points are a little redundant but overall I found it easy to read, understand and implement. Especially helpful when dealing with my kids because what I feel is a pointless waste of their energy, validating their feelings has certainly helped with some conversations what would have previously ended with me saying some mom cliche like- itโs fine youโll get over it. And then huffing and not talking to me for an hour.

Spot On track --
You on track - I just recently deep dived into this field of study - Emotional Intelligence - Great addition to my subject library - Well written - good sense of humor -real life examples - nonjudgmental - I learned a lot about myself reading this book and practiced what I learned and got instant positive feedback. it can be a heavy read - I step away after 100 pages and digest what I have read. I put into action what I have learned and then when I see the results I am looking for - repeat steps one and two - A LOT of good stuff -

Damaged
Havenโt had a chance to read yet. Book came damaged, appears it happened prior to shipping as the fold was a complete fold inwards and put back to flush inside the package

It's alright
I was expecting more from this book given the reviews, but while I wasn't disappointed.. I was certainly not impressed. The good part is the book is quite precise and an easy read, however would have preferred some more "meat"
