Keeps Hair Dry with Modifications
I have medium length wavy hair and swim daily. I have tried many swim caps to keep my hair dry!! While no swim cap is capable of keeping hair 100% dry, here is the routine and products that I have found to keep my hair 85% dry. The 2nd photo is of my hair is right after swimming breastroke and freestyle laps doing flip turns, swimming underwater to 12 feet deep, and floating on my back. Only the back and edges above my ears are slightly damp. TYR Long Hair Swim Cap Sync Hair Guard & Ear Guard Headband Speedo Vanquisher 2.0 Swim Goggles Cut strip of an exercise resistance band I put my hair up in a high bun that sits right behind my forehead. Then I flip my head upside down and put the TYR cap on with the letters in the front. I ensure that the cap is fully over my ears and hair. Next, I put the Sync hair guard over the TYR cap with the words right side up in the front. I make sure it overlaps the swim cap by about a cm on all sides. Finally, I tie the resistance band strip like a headband over both, making sure it is tied under my ears. The goggles go over everything. Since this pair is small they seal even though the cap is close to my eyes. After swimming I rub a half teaspoon of ascorbic acid powder between my hands and over the wet parts of my hair to neutralize the chlorine instead of getting my hair more wet by rising. This is the active ingredient in expensive swim products, but much cheaper to buy on it's own. I then apply leave in conditioner to the damp areas.

Works well as an addition to a swim cap!
I purchased this headband as a โadditionโ to my swim cap. I am not really a true lap swimmer, but I wanted to start somewhere and the one thing holding me back was my hair. I have thick long hair and once it is wet, it takes forever to dry so I decided to purchase this item along with an extra large swim cap that was made for long, thick hair. The headband works well with the swim cap but there are a few things to remember to do in order to get the least amount of leakage: 1. Make sure you follow the directions on the package. 2. It is fine to put your hair in a ponytail on top of your head to get stray hairs out of the way. 3. I found it helpful to invert my head upside down and then pull the band over my head and ears. It took some time for me to get the routine down but it keeps the top of my head pretty dry. The nape of my neck gets a little wet as the band will โcreepโ up, but I donโt have sopping wet hair. I can deal with a little dampness. Like most reviews of other products of this kind, there isnโt a perfect seal or waterproof product that will keep your head 100% dry. Again I am not the serious lap swimmer where I am doing flip turns and racing in the water. I leisurely do a few laps, switch to a different stroke, and then come back to lap swimming. I do not know how this band would react when doing lengthy laps, backstrokes, or flip turns. One other thing I should mention is that it is pretty tight around your head and ears so if you are uncomfortable to tightness around your face and head you may not care for this item.

Keeps the water out of my ears
I put it on first, then my Speedo swim cap, then my goggles. Worked great with no need for ear plugs. However, when I put goggles on first, then the band and swim cap, my goggles leaked. If you have an ear disease, you would still need to put something in your ears. Sometimes when I swim, a drop or 2 of water get in, and sometimes my ears are totally dry. You have to fiddle a bit at first to get the best fit. Too low and it puts too much pressure on my head. Too high and it doesn't cover my ears. Just right is easy once you know how.

Keeps Hair Out Of My Face In The Water
So I've decided no swim cap is going to keep my hair dry. All they do is keep my long hair out of my face so I don't have to keep dunking my head and re-positioning my hair in my hair clip or tie. I even purchased an additional silicone head band hoping if I put this cap over the band that is would created a seal that would keep water out. It does keep the hair at the very top of my head dry, but if any part of my hair gets wet then I have to wash my whole head anyway. Plus I realized the silicone at the base of my hair line is like a sauna that makes me sweat. So half of the moisture along my hairline is perspiration that must be shampooed post workout. So, these caps do not keep me from having to wash my hair every time I swim. So I do what a previous reviewer suggested and apply conditioner to my dry hair before putting my head band and cap on. Then I can swim with my hair out of my face and shampoo after swimming with the least damage to my salon-colored hair. I'll add in some deep conditioning treatments each month and see if I can keep swimming because it's my favorite workout by far.

Tears easily
It works OK but tears after about 8 or 9 months. I lap swim about 2-3 times per week. This is my 4th one but I can't find any others that are thin enough to go under my swim cap.

Best option for daughterโs kinky curly hair
My daughter has kinky curly (4c) hair, and loves to swim. We have only used this once, but for a full day at a water park including time in the wave pool. I combined with a long hair swim cap, with the headband on first and the cap over the top. The very edges of her hair were damp, but all of her twists were dry. It will stay in place better if you do cover ears, but she doesnโt like her ears covered so we have to readjust periodically as it and the cap slide up her forehead a bit. Overall, the best combination Iโve found so far to avoid drying out my daughterโs hair with the chlorine.

Sort of works...
I loved the idea of a headband that would make my swimcap (mostly) waterproofed - but wow, it is tricky. I suppose that if I didn't move around and do laps, this band might work. However, after a few laps and moving my head normally, the seal breaks and my hair is wet. The idea is great but it just doesn't practically work like I would like. Also it is snug on the head so can cause a bit of a headache. I did read from other reviews that people had luck with it and so I gave it many chances just in case - but every time, a good deal of my hair got wet. Oh! It is good for keeping water out of your ears! My hair always got wet but I the band kept the water out of my ears! So that is a plus.

great for helping to keep water out of ears
great for helping to keep water out of ears. i use this by itself when in the spa to keep ears dry, and it works great when head not fully submerged or when splashing around. also- when swimming and fully submerged- I have always had problems with water in ears, but with this product, now problem is solved when i use it with combo of silicone ear plugs and cap. NOTE- you must keep the back of the product low on your neck in order to have it cover your ears or it won't work. if you use it as instructed, this works great. good quality/nice looking. i bought black. awesome and super value. thanks!

Good until it broke.
Was really good, if you put it in just right it wonโt rile up and will keep the water out. Fits well and easy to put on. Good until it broke. It broke putting it on. Used it every time Iv been swimming.

Product doesn't work.
Not worth spending any money on. It's expensive and doesn't stop your hair from getting wet as it promises to do.

Doesnt block water
Doesnt block out water like advertised. Used it with a silicone cap exactly as instructed but my hair still got 100% wet as if it wasnt there.
