Waterdrop AP431 Whole House Scale Inhibitor with Adapter

Update: I was able to get in contact with their customer service. They sent me a new unit which arrived in a couple of days. Installed exactly the same way as I tried with the first one, but no leaks this time! I'm not sure why there's some issues with these units. It looks like other reviewers had issues too but they were also fixed with a new unit. Thank you waterdrop customer service! I installed the whole house scale inhibitor filter, but unfortunately it's leaking. I've clamped the fittings, but unfortunately water leaks from the waterdrop unit. I haven't had luck reaching customer support leaving a review here as that seems to have worked for others.

Simple to install, nice and tight, time will tell if it is effective.

Re-doing my product review , after a failed attempt to make this item work , I made a " bad " review on this item , after posting it here , I got an email from Kimberly from Customer Service to let me know she could send me a new filter set up If I would give them an other chance , I said yes , next day or two I had a new box with a new filter set up , I got really impress by the way they wanted to make things right about their product , so After few days , I finally got to do another set up with the filter on the new tankless water heater in my house , set up was easy this time after Kimberly gave me some pointers of what I should do this time in order to not have a leak , I fallow her instructions and I am happy to say that the system works as advertised ! No leaks and I am really happy that the new set up works perfectly ! Thanks to Kimberly for her time and effort to make things right on their product . Recommend it 100% !

This scale inhibitor has a major defective flaw. It leaks. I've been plumbing my whole life and it is rare that any part of a job needs to be taken apart to fix a leak in the job. This job had two leaks. Two of them. Both on the T connection of this scale inhibitor. I wrapped the nipples with several wraps of a quality teflon tape and both of them are leaking. I swear I wish manufacturers would test their items before they sell them. I don't know if this leak can be stopped because the thing has been wrapped with plenty of teflon tape. I will take it apart and see if more will fix it. If it doesn't, this will be returned for something that works. It's not like I don't know what I'm doing either. I soldered over ten seperate joints and had twelve other screw together fittings on this tankless water heater install. This company's T fitting leaked on both sides. Both of them. I am so pissed right now.

Save yourself a headache — ditch the included Teflon tape immediately. Whoever thought that tape was adequate for metal-on-metal threaded connections clearly never wrestled with brass fittings at 11pm with water everywhere. It's fine for PVC, but on brass-to-metal SharkBite threads? Absolute garbage. After redoing the connection 2-3 times and questioning my life choices, I switched to a non-toxic Teflon-based pipe sealant compound and it sealed first try. The tee itself is solid, but don't let that tape anywhere near your brass fittings unless you enjoy mopping up water and starting over.

I’m an HVAC technician. I am using this for my plate heat exchanger, which is in charge of the hot water for my entire house. I have installed many like it in other houses. The competitors have a very similar design but a much higher price tag. With a lot of stuff I sell out in the field I like to try it in my own house first. That being said, this seems like a good less expensive option. So far, I would recommend it. A little pro tip I found the easiest way to change the cartridge is to install two ball valves on either side. It’s a little bit more work upfront and may cost a little bit more for the plumbing fittings, but when it comes time to change the cartridge out, you can do it seconds.

Esto es mi opinión sobre este producto, yo le doy tres estrellas. Cuando tú lo vas a conectar es muy frágil, puede romperse si no tienes suficiente experiencia conectándolo, pero es un buen producto. Lo que siento que es un poco malicioso es que solamente utiliza un solo filtro específico, lo que significa que te obligan a comprar el filtro exactamente de esa marca ya que casi cuesta lo mismo que la pieza completa entera. No tiene mucho sentido para mí, pero funciona y hace lo que tiene que hacer. Si a ti no te importa comprar los filtros, este es tu producto. Realmente yo lo veo malicioso porque no te da opciones para comprar filtros más baratos, pero si no te importa gastarte eso, adelante. Hace lo que tiene que hacer, filtra el agua como debe y cumple exactamente. Esta es mi opinión personal desde mi experiencia usándolo y viendo cómo funciona.

Once you get the bugger in, works great. If you have a fridge like mine, you understand the annoyance of changing the filter. For mine you have to lay on the floor (literally!) and don't forget to take a pair of pliers down with you because you'll never turn that bugger without them. Then change it out and put the fridge back together (I have to remove the baseboard thing). After you do all that you are sooo happy that this filter lasts a looong time! I don't bother with setting the calendar, I can taste the change in the water when I need to replace it.

As others have mentioned on the side female threads they need a lot Teflon tape on the input fittings or it will leak trying with about six raps Nope still leaks, 10 - 12 which is over kill but hey no more leak I guess its because of the stainless steel fitting which is way harder metal than brass other than that the cartridge screws on good just be careful slowly threading it so you don’t cross thread the soft plastic Time will tell if it actually fixed the hard water issue

Excelente producto, funciona muy bien! El agua en mi departamento tiene mucho sarro y recientemente instalé un lavavajillas, el problema fue que los platos salían con muchas marcas de agua dura, compré e instalé el filtro y asunto resuelto, los trates salen impecable. Ahora compraré otro para instalarlo en la entrada principal y despedirme del sarro en la regadera. Ojo, pónganle mucha cinta aislante para que no vaya quedar goteando.

Works the same as the 3M for less money. I was a bit disappointed in the finish quality (mostly the markings) of the stainless fitting, but it's cast stainless so I probably had too high of expectations. Would definitely buy this one again.

Good value for money

Seems to be working, only complaint I have is the same as others the pipe fittings leak if you don’t put 10 wraps of tape on them. Other than that it’s good.
