Edson Marine Edson PowerKnob Black Sportsman

Installed this on the wheel of my 23' Parker. Used it a little at first and then more and more, now I use it all the time. Difference between this and the less expensive ones is the ball bearings - this one is liquid smooth.

Excellent knob but needs additional mounting options for modern padded steering wheels. I've purchased several of these knobs for different boats all of which had padded leather wheels. The standard mounting straps are too small to work with this knob. I called Edson years ago and inquired about the availability of additional straps to fit wider 1-1/2" wheels but was told "thats all we offer" and they hung up on me. Maybe their customer service is more civilized these days - one can only hope. In all cases I had to manufacturer my own strap using their smaller offerings as a templates. Nice knobs that will last a lifetime but poor mounting options if you have a padded wheel.

Nice but when I tightened it down enough to stay in place it then started to be stiffer to spin. I tried loosening the bolt and then it spun free but would also slip on my steering wheel. Overall I’m happy with but wish it spun freer when tight.

The knob that arrived had a black cap rather than the stainless steel in the picture. The reason I chose this $90 knob is because the stainless steel and black would match my console. I called to see if they would just send me a stainless steel insert and you are directed to a call center that has to be placed in the middle to call OJ Commerce and relay a message from them back to you. They told me to send it back on my dime and they would evaluate it. What?! I said just send me a stainless cap and I'll send you back the black cap - nope. At any rate - enough is enough with the bad business from OJ, so I called Edson directly and they dropped one in the mail free of charge. The call took 2 minutes. Great product and manufacturer, poor distributor. Come on people...

I cannot live without this power steering knob, having them installed on my personal and work boats. They make for much easier maneuvering and smooth docking. Also, Edson offers superb customer service in response to questions, concerns, and/or problems.

Very good mounting system for my Teleflex wheel. Had to bend the strapping a little but tightened down very well, bearings are made of some type of nylon which will be great for the salt. Jeff R

This is a quality product that takes alot of work out of handling my outboard runabout with hydraulic steering. My only problem was having to get my stainless steel wheel drilled and tapped for direct mounting because the clamp-on mounting option would not hold on the ss wheel. Other than that, I am satisfied with this product.

Easy install and fit perfect. Worth the extra cost. Works great and still less expensive than a new steering wheel with a built on knob.
