Crosley CR55-RE Wall Phone with Push Button Technology, Red

Like many who live in older homes, I have an old AT&T wall plate in the kitchen that's not near an electrical outlet. The only way to cover it is with a corded phone. I got tired of the old, beige early 90's thing I had hanging there and searched for something cool that fit my decor, without being overly cutesy. The red phone is actually a nice dark cranberry color (my father tells me the color was all the rage circa 1959) and it provides a pretty punch of color to the wall. Unlike some reviewers, the sound on mine is perfectly clear, the bell tone (set it to low) sounds just like the rings of old, and while not quite as heavy as the phones I remember from childhood, it's a pretty solid piece. It's truly retro in that there are no frills (aside from redial and flash) such as backlighting or caller ID, but my modern living room phone's ring tones tell me who is calling. As far as function goes, this phone is for answering when I'm in the kitchen and calling the electric company when the power goes out. But it's very pretty, well priced, and sure to be a conversation piece. *Beware: Ignore the accessories Amazon associates with this. You cannot replace the cord with a longer one. It's molded to the phone.

This phone is hanging in my kitchen and the deep red color coordinates with all my other candy-apple red accents and appliances. The color is exactly as pictured on line. It is SO cute and handy, up off the counter surface and centrally located so I can talk and still stir the pot or whatever. The cord is plenty long enough to reach in all directions but not too long that it gets in the way. Keep in mind that you will still need one hand to hold the phone so it's not totally hands-free but still very handy. Sound quality is great and we have been using it for a couple of years now with no problems. It's a great conversation piece and I'm really glad I bought it!

The phone is beautiful (bought the red one). Shipped quickly, solid packaging. Looks great on my wall, and the handset is weighted nicely. But there is a echo when you're talking. Not sure if the party on the other end can hear it, but we sure can! Considering that we only use it when we can't find our walk phones, it's okay. The main reason that I purchased this phone was so that we would have a land line if the power ever goes down - and wanted it to be pleasing to the eye as well. So for our purposes, the phone is great!

Very nice. For those who enjoy the look of a wall phone and the are not comfortable using cell phones this is a perfect choice.

I picked this our for my wife to replace the phone in our kitchen. It seems our current phone was easy to knock of the hook. I searched for a phone made out of heavy material like the old time phones. This comes very close. We are both very pleased with the look, feel, ringer sound, and on-line sound of this phone. The only problem we had was when we first unpacked the phone, the handset cord would not stay plugged into the phone. I carefully bent the plastic prong on the end of the cord and now it is firmly attached. ***Here it is just 7 months later and the phone has quit working. I've called the Crosley Radio customer support number, and left a message. Waiting for their return call. Well, after 2 more calls and 27 days, I've received their reply. I spent $18.75 to ship the phone back following their instructions. It took 31 days more to receive a replacement phone. My recommendation is to buy a better quality item from anybody else.

Our wall phone gets used daily, it's hung between the kitchen and den, very convenient and saves us footsteps. The sound is clear, the ringtone is clever. The grandkids and guests get a kick out of it.

I got this phone for my wife as she is redecorating our house and she couldn't be happier! I was worried about quality as I have read the reviews, but it is working perfect and sounds great. It sounded bad at first but I remembered to put a DSL filter on and it cleared right up. The only problem was with Amazon once again not putting a gift note in the package but thats small stuff. It looks great on the wall and does exactly what we wanted.

Very nice retro kind of look with pushbutton convenience. Bell is old style but extremely loud even after selecting the 'low' setting. The ring will startle you if you are not expecting it. Only drawback is the volume on the handset is very low and the transmission volume (when you are talking to the other person) is also very low. All systems checked but both outgoing and incoming volumes are quite low. Could be problematic for someone with degraded hearing. Nice phone though. Heavy duty and looks appealing.

Purchased this for a red kitchen as it is very hard to find an old looking wall phone. I have done the kitchen in semi retro and this looks amazing! Colour is perfect and phone is easy to use and works great.

Beautiful phone! The red is actually a deep cherry red and much better looking in real life than on the box. It has a great retro feel and even the ringtone is retro, like an old rotary phone. The sound over the line is okay, not great, but not the worst. There is a bit of a delay when speaking and a bit of a hum in the background, but other then that it’s great.
