An absolutely excellent dehumidifier
I bought mine based upon Consumer Reports’ praise for these and reviews here and I haven’t been disappointed. You really couldn’t ask for a better dehumidifier. I recommend this thing to people all the time. It’s quite compact but holds way more water than most dehumidifiers twice it’s size. It’s pretty quiet for what it is. It’s very effective. Got a dank mildewy basement apartment well under control in just a few days and kept it that way. Brought a 1200 square foot apartment from 65+% humidity down to 35% in just under 4 days of running around the the clock and the mildew smell was 90% gone. Only had to empty the bucket once a day and the app tells you how full the bucket is at anytime and even estimates when it will be 100% full. It switches itself off when it’s full obviously. It even has a spigot like thing on the bottom so you can connect a hose for continuous draining if needed. It’s also quite reasonable on electricity use *for a dehumidifier*. Bear in mind, dehumidifiers do use a lot of electricity if you run them all the time. Think small window air conditioner, not box fan (in terms of electricity use) and you have the idea. Really the only suggestion I could make as an improvement would be to add caster wheels to the bottom and perhaps a retractable power cord like some vacuums have. Oh, and it even has an app to control it which works via Wi-Fi. So you could literally turn it on or off when you’re at a friends house or work if you want to. You can also set it to maintain a certain humidity automatically. NOTE: It does NOT have wheels, but it does have sturdy handles. If you can lift 25 lbs off the floor with one hand, you’ll have no trouble carting it around or emptying the bucket. I would say that an elderly person or a child under 13 or so might struggle a bit to lift the the unit and move it around or lift the bucket when it’s full though. If you plan to move it around a lot, you could put it on a sturdy, low profile platform with wheels. If the weight is an issue, just empty the bucket when it’s half-full and you’ll probably make do just fine. Bear in mind, you do need to lift the entire unit UP and OFF of the bucket it sits upon in order to empty it. If lifting 20-25 lbs with one arm isn’t an issue for you — then you’ve found your dehumidifier, your search is over. It’s a well-engineered and well-built unit that’s worth every penny. Buy this or one of the similar smaller or larger cube-shaped Midea units and I’m confident you’ll be pleased with the results.

Very happy with this purchase!
It works! I live in a high-humidity area. I purchased a house that was built in the 1950s. It has moisture and mold issues. None were visible due to everything being recently painted. I learned of the problem after I moved in. I have been fighting humidity and moisture for the entire six months that I have been here. I have a one-room dehumidifier that is a few years old. It is not Energy Star compliant and certainly had an impact on my power bill. It did a good job for one room only, but it also put out a great deal of heat. I decided to do a little research and purchase a whole-house dehumidifier. The Midea brand has great reviews on Consumer Reports and other sites, but the reviews on Amazon are not as good. The main complaints were due to Weight and maneuverability issues. I'm a little on the old side (Shhh...Don't tell anyone.) So, that was something I felt could be a big drawback for me. Long story short, I decided to purchase another brand that had a five-star rating here on Amazon. Reviews for that one mentioned ease of operation, quietness, convenience, etc. All of those comments were true. However, I needed something that removed the humidity more than I needed convenience. That one supposedly covered a much wider area. Sadly, that was not the case. It barely made a dent in the humidity, if any. I have hydrometers in every room, and every one of them measured much, much higher humidity than the display on the 5-star, convenient dehumidifier. I have that one back in the box, and it will be returned. I decided to try the Midea 35 Pint Cube to see if I could handle it. I do agree that it is a little on the heavy side and a little more difficult to lift off the heavy (to an old lady), top part of the cube to empty the bottom. However! It removes the humidity as promised! Every hydrometer in every room of my house measures within 1 or 2 points of what the Midea Cube hydrometer says. This dehumidifier is keeping this old house within comfort and mold-inhibiting levels. The other dehumidifier didn't come close. So, if having a slim, lightweight, easy-to-handle dehumidifier is what's important to you, you won't like the Midea Cube. If you want a dehumidifier that does exactly what it is supposed to do, you will love the Midea. It's heavy and awkward, but this old lady can handle it; you can too. I consider it a strength-building exercise, and I lift with my knees. I almost forgot to mention (it's that age thing) that it also powers on less often than that other piece of junk...I mean dehumidifier that I tried first. It's bound to have a lower impact on my power bill. I truly wish I could give the Midea Cube 10 stars ten stars. If you want the performance that you are paying for, buy the Midea Cube. If you live in a low-humidity area and just want to purchase a dehumidifier for some strange reason that I can't imagine, go elsewhere.

Work horse!
Ok. First let me say I love this dehumidifier. It’s mind blowing the amount of water it pulls from my home. We dump daily around 4-6 gallons of water! I like the bucket design- it’s very easy to empty the water from the bottom bucket. Just turn off and set the top on something that’s water resistant- I use a big cookie pan :) I dump the bucket and align the top and we good to go till the next day. The problem is and I believe it’s caused by how it’s shipped, because it arrives on its side and the box clearly states do not lay on side. But the sensor doesn’t read the correct humidity. I had to buy and return 3 till I found one that works. It’ll give you the humidity but it’s off buy 20-30. After reading comments I see it’s a common issue. All in all I still highly recommend this unit due to design and how it’s a work horse removing moisture from my home. I have a 1600 sq ft home and the 35pint works great. Just use another sensor to make sure it’s actually reading your home.

Working well after 3 seasons, relatively quiet
I've used the Midea Cube 35 pint dehumidifier for 3 summer seasons. Pros: - Removes moisture from a large basement room well - Relatively (compared with other dehumidifiers I've owned) quiet - This was an important purchase consideration - Humidistat is accurate - Remembers all settings when power is removed - 4 settings to control the maximum volume of water in bucket - Fairly compact - Unique design collapses to about 1/2 height for storage. - Not an advantage for me, but may be for others - Easy user interface Cons: - Lifting the dehumidifier off of the bucket may be difficult for some due to the weight - At the bucket's max water volume setting, lifting the bucket to empty it may be difficult for some due to the weight - Midea thought ahead and added the limit feature, of course this means it needs to be emptied more often - Removing the air filters for cleaning is more difficult than it should be I use this dehumidifier on a Hubitat smart home outlet switch to control when it operates. I'm pleased all of the dehumidifier settings are retained when power is removed; this is also an advantage if your power goes out occasionally. Longevity of dehumidifiers has not been very good lately, so we'll see how long this one lasts...

Disappointing
I purchased this product after reading the review from the NYT Wirecutter -- and from now on I probably won't take their advice quite so quickly. To be fair, it is excellent at being a dehumidifer, but there are several major issues that make me completely unable to recommend this product. First and most importantly, 9 times out of 10 the fill sensor fails completely. The first time this happened was of course completely unexpected and, because of no fail-safe, I woke up to a massive mess and soggy carpet that required some rather extensive cleanup. Knowing this would be an issue from this point I regularly dumped it, but also purchased a heavy-duty food-service basin in case of any accidents. However, the water was so heavy that the weight of the machine eventually broke through the bottom of the basin leading to my second unexpected cleanup job. Secondly, the automatic on/off sensor that's supposed to make it more energy efficient also frequently fails, and the machine often sits running even when its own sensors indicate that the humidity levels are already at or below the set level (I have an additional hygrometer set near the machine to verify). So, in the end, not very energy efficient after all. My energy usage has also increased overall while having this machine as opposed to my previous dehumidifier. Thirdly, the built-in filter is so flimsy that on the first time cleaning it the plastic broke. It broke in a place that makes it still usable, but it was another nail in that coffin. In the end it's just another expensive machine with super cheap components that will fail quickly, potentially causing significant damage to your home.

APP NEEDS WORK
APP NEEDS WORK!! 35 pint midea cube dehumidifier using it in bucket mode. Seems to work fine as a dehumidifier. Collects water in the large tank. Lowers humidity well. The problem I have is with the app, which is one of the two main reasons I chose this brand and model. I can adjust the fan speed. Turn it on and off, change the humidity set point and things like that in the app. Those features seem to work fine. The major problem with the app and I do think is a big major problem is the level of the water in the collection tank shows on the app with a progression bar. The level of the water in the tank and the progression bar on the app that's supposed to indicate that water level. It is never correct. I returned a previous same dehumidifier from this company because of the same problem. Customer support, although nice, was no help. All they said is you have to return it. I cleared the cash. Deleted data. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Turn the unit on and off, unpluged the unit when it was on then plugged it back in after awaiting period. Again, the unit works well as a humidifier and the good point is it has a very large tank which is the other reason that I bought it. But the app needs significant work, because one of the key features is how much water is in the tank and that should be shown accurately on the app, which does not work for 2 of the same dehumidifiers. Anybody else out there having the same problem with the app not being accurate in regards to the amount of water in the tank?

Humidifier works well and we love the large capacity water storage tank
So far so good! I’ve had my dehumidifier for about two months and it has worked beautifully. The humidity levels in our Florida home were regularly above 60% and this keeps them in the 40s. I love the larger storage tank and I find I only have to empty it every two or 2 1/2 days. The one thing I would warn, is because the tank has a larger capacity, when it’s full of water it can be heavy. I’m almost 60 years old and able to roll it to our back patio and then lift it to dump it. But 10 years from now, it might be too heavy for me. We’ll see. The nice thing is you can control the amount of water the tank stores before the unit automatically shuts off, so if it’s too heavy for you, you could always put it on the lowest storage setting. I found that the unit was easy to assemble and easy to operate. I do recommend it.

Excellent dehumidifier
Game changer in our (formerly) damp basement. It is quiet, efficient and has been running like a champ since the day we received it.

Not Compatible with UK Voltage
This dehumidifier is not compatible with UK voltage and should not be sold in the UK without clear instructions for use. If you want to use this in the UK, you need a 1000 watt step down converter like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0FG6QMWYR?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title I was only able to figure this out with the help of an electrician I happen to know and obviously purchasing the converter was an additional expense so this is far from ideal.
