Bromide is found at about 65 parts per million (ppm) at 77F / 25C at a salinity of 35 parts per thousand (ppt) or a specific gravity of 1.026. Research has demonstrated that sufficient levels of Br- must be present in order for Iodide to be metabolized by captive marine organisms. Bromide is found at 10%-35% of NSW water levels in some low priced marine salts. Therefore it is essential to fortify or supplement some brands of marine salts with Br-.
