This marker does the job! Other markers, even once the marking has dried, you can smear them with your thumb and the obliteration disappears or you can still read your personal info. In all honesty, I first put on a coat from another marker, an Avery Marks A Lot, let that dry, and then I put on the Artline marker. Have had no issues that way with the info you're trying to hide being visible after the marker ink dries and it doesn't rub off either. It may be a bit of overkill, but what's the point of putting a "permanent" marker on labels only to have them not hide your personal info.

A lot of "redacting markers" out there are basically just black markers, no different from a Sharpie - the text is still visible after using them. These markers have an opaque paint-like ink that covers up printed text completely with one pass.

These do the job but take many coats to totally black out your information. I gave 3 stars as I have nothing to compare them to. Probably better to just shred anything you need blacked out.

I'd been looking for something to scratch out personal information on Rx bottles. These work just like a kind of paint marker. It has a ball inside that you can hear shake. You press the tip on a piece of paper (that doesn't bleed onto anything) until the ink shows on the tip. From there, you can basically stroke the tip over the area like a highlighter. You can't press too hard because this ink will bleed through regular pieces of paper depending on how many times you pass over. It's heavy ink. On paper, it worked well to cover the information, and I didn't see anything even when I held it up to the light. I used a regular sharpy next to it, and you can see the difference in the two in one of my photos. The Sharpie was transparent when held up to the light. What I did notice is that on an Rx bottle, you needed more passes to cover all of the information, but when pressed too hard, the ink started to erase itself and reveal the info under the ink. So you need to be careful with the pressure. Also, on the Rx bottle, the ink does take longer to dry. I had to blow on it to move it along. So, different papers are affected differently by the ink. Overall, this worked well. I'd test it on different papers to see if it works for what you need to redact.

Worked very well. I suggest doing two or three coats on some types of packing.

To have paid almost $50 for these markers, I'm highly, highly disappointed. I tried using several, but they were all dried up, despite being individually sealed. I had to return them but really needed to use them for some business documents. Would not buy again.
