How wide is each of the L?

I just measure and each side was a little less than 1/2" .

Is this secured by a strip of adhesive on only one surface of the bumper strip?

You apply the adhesive strip yourself. I put it on both the side and top. You do have to be very careful when applying it to the top so that the adhesive strip does not extend beyond the silicone strip.
