What does keratin add to the Malala nail strengthen as compared to the scientific formula?

They both do a great job hardening the nail when used as directed. The Scientifique K + has Keratin as an added benefit.

Should I use a nail/cuticle moisturizer while using this product?

No I didn't, my cuticles are fine, I use a reg nail & cuticle oil. And follow the application on avoiding nail hardner where NOT to apply. Love Mavala nail treatment
