These are my first experience with this kind of boot. I have been riding a cruiser for 7 years with only leather over the ankle riding boots but recently bought my first dirt bike so thought I would upgrade to these. The fit was great and they work well with my dirt bike (which is electric). Haven't had anything happen yet where I might be able to talk to how well they protect. I did find on using them on my cruiser that they make shifting gears very difficult as they are much thicker than what I was wearing. I think I will have to practice a lot to get used to the thickness of the boot. I didn't notice it on the dirt bike because it doesn't have gears.
